Earlier this week I ordered a bolt and a spare bolt/trigger spring from Taylors. The same people who make the drop in conversion cylinders. Just gave them a followup call and my parts should arrive within a few days. Anyway....in case any of you are thinking of buying a new 1851 and plan on buying new as opposed to a used auction one, Taylors is giving away a free extra cylinder with the purchase of a brass frame 1851 Confederate Navy for $160.00. Here's the link.....

Just bought one of these from Taylors &Co. of Winchester, Va.. Haven't shot it yet but can't wait. It's Pietta's version of a 36 cal. Confederate copy of an 1851 Colt Navy revolver. Beautiful gun. Good looking bluing. Its got the historically accurate brass frame so don't want to overload it. Fine looking walnut handgrips. Everything looks fine. Action works well. Lets hope for accuracy.

Total cost to me was was $160 plus shipping for gun, and for that I got not just the gun, but also an extra cylinder. (Very important to have an extra cylinder or two when you have a slow to reload cap and ball revolver. Just drop in another cylinder. (CAUTION, don't carry an extra cylinder with the nipples capped, or you're asking for trouble. They'll probably go off if you drop the cylinder on the caps.) Anyway, be doubly careful with any black powder gun. But they're lots of fun if you're careful. Seems like I've seen this gun selling for about $279 somewhere and the extra cylinder for about $90 or so. So, $160 for both is a great deal.

Here's a tip. I can't guarantee it'll work for you but this worked for me. Given several choices for type of delivery I chose the least expensive which was UPS ground. I paid $10 or so. I figured on waiting 7-10 days for it. but the gun showed up on my porch in two days flat, shipped Fed Ex.
