Taylor's & Co. Uberti 1873 Cattleman .22lr

There was another thread about buying a full sized SAA clone in .22lr and this revolver was mentioned.
I decided I needed one and ordered it the same day.
Picked it up today and here it is.
It's a 6 shot .22lr single action revolver with a case colored frame, blued steel grip frame, cylinder with recessed chambers and 4.75" barrel.
It has a hammer mounted firing pin like the Colt SAA and NO transfer bar.
Being all steel, the same size as a .45 SAA and having such small charge holes and bore makes it pretty heavy.
It is beautiful. A bargain at the $428 I paid for it.
Can't wait to shoot the crap out of it.

The first Colt SA .22 I ever fired was an original, one of about 100 ever made. I later briefly owned one converted to .22 from (IIRC) .32-20. I thought then, and still think, that .22 chambering in a full size SA is ridiculous, though I would love to own that original one.

One of the smartest things Bill Ruger ever did was to scale down the Single Six in a way that keeps the feel of a full size gun yet reduces the weight to a very manageable level.

Ha such a cool gun. Man so lucky you found out about it. When my gun store gave me dibs on it. It was very tempting.

The heft didn't bother me the 4.5" felt just like 7.5" Blackhawk. I love the brass frame case hardened. I wish I could get the charcoal blue for the cylinder and barrel I love how that looks.

That's so danged sexy,,,

Your new SAA clone is so very sexy!

Where did you get it my friend?,,,
That might be my income tax return new gun,,,
It would be a perfect matching rimfire to my Dakota 5.5" in .357 Mag.

Did it come in a 5.5" version?

Oh heck, if you can tell me where you bought it,,,
I'll do the reading and answer my questions there. :o

Worked with the 12-shot version this week, aside from shooting 3 inches high at 25 yards, nice little gun overall.

Trigger was rough, but it smoothed up the worst of its grit by the end of the session.

Both versions are available in 4 3/4, 5 1/2, and 7 1/2 barrels.

The one here has both Uberti safety "devices", an extended two-slot base pin & the block in the hammer.

It comes in 4.75", 5.5" and 7.5". It's available with steel grip frame or (less expensive) brass grip frame. It can be had in blued or charcoal blue (I wish they'd hhd charcoal blue) and it's available as a 6 shot or 12 shot.
The 6 shot looked better to me because it has 6 cylinder stops.

We're FFL dealers and I ordered it from Ellett Brothers (FFL wholesale only).
It's the only one that any of our distributors had in stock.

Thanks Microgunner,,,

I found the Taylor's & Company website,,,
They listed one almost identical to my Dakota,,,
5.5" Barrel, brass guard and backstrap, & case colored frame.

What a pair those guns would make,,,
My Dakota is a very well balanced shooter,,,
And I really don't shoot it enough but that can change.

You really put a bug in my brain with this thread,,,
I honestly didn't know that anyone made a full-size rimfire.

I'll sic The Evil Pawn Shop Guy on the scent,,,
Maybe he can locate one we can order in.

This could easily be where I spend my tax refund.

Thanks again my friend,,,

My trigger doesn't feel rough, just a very very small amount of creep before releasing.
That hammer block safety is pretty clever isn't it? Almost invisible and the hammer and cylinder release still operate like a Colt.
This is my second Uberti .22lr SA ( the first is a Lightning w/bird'shead grip) and I don't think anyone in the world will use that center pin safety.

Beautiful! Congratulations. Uberti makes several things I'd like to have but...the good Commonwealth of Massachusetts has decided that this cannot be the case. They make quite a handsome piece at Uberti.

Micro,
There can be quite a bit of variation in Ubertis. The trigger on this one had almost a notch in its initial travel, kinda a speedbump, and then it was just minorly gritty once past that.
Smoothed out a lot now.

The cylinder does look a little odd, but it shoots twice as much before reloading. :)

Hopefully yours'll be better regulated in elevation.

I doubt many will use the cylinder pin "safety" notch, but it gets the guns past Customs.
