I'm assuming...

...you mean the PT-99?

It's a Beretta clone; a little worse in the fit & finish department, a better safety setup (your choice of decocker or cocked & locked), same amazing feed reliability, great warranty, low price.

I'd buy one.

Having used both the Beretta 92FS-B and Taurus PT-99 I would take the PT-99. The Beretta costs about 100$ more, but only has one year (three years if you send in the warranty card within 30 days of purchase) limited, non-transferable warranty.

The Taurus costs about 100$ less than the Beretta, but only has a fully transferable lifetime warranty. Oh yeah, it also has the frame mounted decocker safety with the cocked and locked option that Tamara mentioned.

The Beretta finish isn't that much better anymore either.

I'll buy a Taurus before I buy another Beretta. Both are good guns, but the Taurus is the better value.

I bought a like-new Taurus PT-99 (blued, pre-decocker) from a dealer for $225 a few years ago, and since I have put 2000 or so various rounds through it without a single failure of any kind.

To date, it has a better track record than my Glock 19 in the reliability department. Accuracy-wise, it shoots about the same for me.
Despite all the handguns I own, this is the one that lays by my bed, loaded with G-A 115gr +P+ GoldDots.

Rocko, if the price is right, go for it!

I have owned 2 taurus handguns... A PT-92 9mm and a .380 beretta style ( can't remember the model # cause I only had it a week ). Both were P.O.S! The 92 wouldn't hit the broadside of a barn, and the .380 would bulge cases on factory loads so bad it scared me, plus the accuracy was poor. I recently bought two Berettas in 9mm and have been totally satisfied. I would recommend saving your money and buying "the real thing".

I have pt99 stainless. I was shooting my hkusp at the range and the guy next to me had one. He let me try it out. It shot so well and felt so good in the hand I went out and bought one. I knew it was keeper so I ordered 8 preban mags before the ban went into effect. Everyone who I let shoot it loves it. I sold the HK and still have the pt99.
They have gone down in price because of the size. People want something more compact for 10 rounds. But prebans are plentiful and inexpensive. I have a CCW and carry it well.
Never had to use the warrentee. I really like the position of the decocker. The beretta's is too high for my grip but the taurus is very comfortable. Put some hogue rubber grips on it. You won't be disapointed.
Negotiate with the seller. They are not in much demand today which makes them a great bargin.

I have a Beretta 92, but would not hesitate to buy the Taurus-if I was in the market for another 9MM

Thanks for the responces ! I guess if you ask a question, you can expect to get differing opinions. It seem that the majority are more positive than negative. I guess there is a new PT-99 in my future!

thanks

I've got a PT-92afs and have been 100% satisfied. It's easy to shoot, easy to clean, I've got 4 15 round mags for it, has a great safety setup and it's accurate. Best of all 100% reliable. It is my primary home defense pistol.

I've fired my friend's 92fs and in my hands I don't see much of a difference, certainly not enough to justify the price difference.

I have the same PT-92afs. I love it. I hardly shoot in anymore b/c of my glocks. I take it out ever now and then to give it a little lovin. Never had any problems other then ****ty reloads, but that was my fault.

Taurus pt is among my fav's

I would get the Taurus. I have a pt in stainless and love it.
Its as quality of a gun as my cz's and shoots just like them.
Some people dont like Taurus...I am thinking of selling my pt.
I have been inquiring around at what is a good price and
Gunshops around here..kinda smurk at ya when you talk about
them. Your pt is a Beretta knock off..direct..my pt is a combo of
the Beretta and Sig..its the pt 940...I love this gun, I just found
something..I have wanted more alot longer...shoot well

I owned a Taurus PT99 for some time. The trigger was never any good, even after a trip to the gunsmith & installation of some type of spring kit. The gun had no reliability problems, just a real heavy trigger.

I'd check out the trigger before you decide to buy. Hope this helps.
