taurus slin pi740

I'm assuming from the typos you meant the 740Slim?

I owned one for a short time (the stainless silver slide). Bought it slightly used for $300 and sold for the same.

Great little pistol for the price. Retail you will find them around $350-$400+ depending where you look.

Pros: Slim profile, Thumb and trigger safeties, loaded chamber indicator, polished feed ramp, SA/DA trigger, disassembles easily like a glock and comes with 2 mags.

Cons: Not the best sights--will usually shoot low out of the box. Long trigger pull which is typical for a pocket pistol this size (same with PF9, LC9, etc). Taurus brand so some people may tell you they're cheap/junk but do not believe them until you tried one yourself.

I've owned both the 709 (9MM version) and the 740Slim. They worked flawlessly with no issues whatsoever. I've heard many times that Taurus' customer service is not very good if you have to send back for any warranty work, but at least they come with a lifetime warranty. But in my experience I never had to put their CS to the test since both pistols worked just fine.

Budsgunshop.com is selling one for $300 cash right now on their used part of their pages.

Taurus's lifetime warranty still applies.

I had one for a short time, but the recoil of the 40S&W was more than I was comfortable with in the thin, small platform.I traded it off for a 9mm double stack. I think the 709 Slim would have been better for me. The recoil was the main issue, but the sights were not good and I tended to shoot low left with it which was my fault. Shooting from a rest it was fine. I would stongly suggest shooting one before buying if you are not very familiar with 40 in that platform. I shoot a 357mag snub with a wider grip and do not have a big problem with the recoil. $.02
Also, I bought it new and had no problems with the function of the gun, just the recoil.
