Are they like Chevy and Pontiac?

I have a Taurus model 65 .357 matte Nickle. I've checked GA and Gunbroker and cant find much info on it. Its too old to Taurus's website

Are Taurus frames the same as S&W? Would this be the same size as a S&W model 65?

Im looking for grips and noticed most grips are referenced to S&W frame sizes. Just wondering what frame size this is.

Matte Nickle? Are you sure it's not stainless?

That should be a medium frame Taurus, they still make the model 65 and Taurus makes grips for them.

Not sure about the other manufacturers, but I wouldn't imagine that grips from a S&W will fit.

OK so Im looking for medium frame Taurus grips. The grips on the pistol are some exotic hardwood and look good but are a bit bulky.

Yes it is six shot.

I was told by my step father that it was nickle and I own several SS pistols and this definitely looks a bit different. I concede I may be wrong.. On the frame behind the cylinder swing out arm is stamped 65. On the swing out arm itself is stamped 554. Its definitly matte finish and looks almost titainium in color though Im positive its not titainium. Serial # 5164xxx

Super tight tolorences. I measured the cylinder gap at .0003. The triger could definitly use some work though. Not a bad piece for being purchaced for $100 at a garage sale years ago and thrown in a safe and forgotten.

Thanks to all for all.

Taurus & Smith & Wesson"

A better comparison would be Ford & Lincoln, with Taurus
representing a Pinto and S&W a Navigator. :D :)

I had one. It was a good shooter, a little rough but decent overall. Trigger did need a little work but was definately usable. I've seen newer S&Ws that were a lot worse. Could it be an aftermarket refinishing? I remember the holsters and speedloaders were the same as S&W but I don't think the grips are interchangeable. Not sure though. If your feeling handy, try reshaping the stock grips yourself, if you mess it up, replacements are cheap. Just go slow and do a little at a time until it feels right.
