Taurus PT940

A friend of mine wants to sell me his stainless Taurus PT940, which is brand new and still in the box. I am not that familiar with Taurus, and I am welcoming any feedback you might have. He paid $600 for it, with 3 mags, and he wants to sell it to me for $400. I know it's a good deal as far as price goes, but I am an HK guy with no knowledge of Taurus. Thanks in advance.

Actually, the price sounds a bit high. I bought my Taurus stainless PT 940 about a year ago. NIB with 2 mags was $378. Mags run about $32.

As far as the pistol goes, I wouldn't take for it. It's never failed, and is as accurate as I am.(too accurate in my wife's hands) Recoil is very manageable, and is easy to strip and clean. All in all it's an excellent pistol. IMHO

Check out some of the auction sites and see what they are going for there. Also, you can check Taurususa. com and see what the current new new price is on them. Generally, you can deduct about $100 off their list price.

I need to get mine from where you bought yours! I just checked their site, and they want $535 for the stainless model.

You can't go by the list price on the website. As I stated, you can knock about $100 off that. I bought mine at Outdoor America.

I guess I should re-check my sources before I speak.:o As I mentioned, I bought mine about a year ago(actually a year and a half). I checked with them today, and the PT940 SS is selling new for $390.91. However, they only come with 1 mag now. That would put it new with 2 mags, at about $425. With 3 mags at $460. So if the one you're buying is NIB for $400, that's a decent deal. Plus, you can do an individual buy and no paper trail. I'd say take it, 'cause you can't have mine!
