shooting my Taurus PT740 Slim some time back... honkin thing went auto on me. With one pull of the trigger it would shoot 2, 3, or even 4 rounds. I sent it back to Taurus and the sent a New Pistol... said it could not be repaired. As soon as the new one came in I traded it in on a Glock 19.

cool first post, just to come bash a company that seems to have made things right for you. great!!!! lots of us hear have the "slim" or pt111/140 series of pistols and are very happy with them, this is actually the first complaint I ave heard regarding the firing system. but I am glad their CS made it good on your end. enjoy your new Glock

full-auto on an sa/da striker though, that is odd to say the least, but it is a slightly complicated trigger design, i'll have to take a better look at mine to understand how that could happen. I would assume it would have something to do with the trigger itself and not the grip/frame, something letting the sear break after the pre-cock of the pin. just odd that they couldn't just replace the trigger system. or maybe more likely, it is such a cheap pistol they would just as rather send a new one than spending time and laboring repairing it.

Sounds like excellent customer service to me. As for the malfunction, could just as easily happen to ANY of them....including your Glock.

Got to ask, what is with this post? This happened a while back and what, your sitting around and just out of the blue decided you needed to throw this out there?

The usual cause is insufficient sear engagement; it may be more common in striker fired pistols than in a 1911 type where there is a safety stop/half cock in the hammer, but it can happen in any semi-auto under the wrong circumstances.
