Taurus pt58??

I recently have been looking for a .380 that I like the feel of, and the looks of. I really like a Colt mustang..but don't have the money for it. I'm not a real fan of the "PPK" style gun. I saw a Taurus pt58 on the net..does anyone know what the dimensions are? I'd like to be able to carry in my back pocket. Also what about the Browning BDA 380?? Oh yea..I do not want a DAO style....I know I'm picky....but aren't we all...otherwise we probably wouldn't be on here....Thanks

I have one (actually had two but traded off the blue one to finance another gun and kept the nickle one). The PT58 is excessively wide for easy concealment purposes as are most double stacked guns. That was one of the PT58's downsides before the hi-cap ban. The Browning BDA .380 is actually a Beretta, you might want to look at those too.

Another possibility are the Bersa and FireStorm (made by Bersa) .380s. They are single stack models and have actually had mostly positive reveiws. Do a search here for them.

A buddy of mine has a PT58. It's reliable, very pleasant to shoot and more accurate than I had anticipated. A nice shooter.

It's also a fat and chunky pig :).

It's about as wide as Taurus' PT92 9mm or a Beretta 92F and it has a similar feel as a Beretta 92 compact. Weight doesn't seem bad due to teh alloy frame but it's not in teh same league as a PPk in terms of concealment.

The Beretta 84/Browning BDA are a bit trimmer and have a pretty comfortable grip but are still much larger than a PPk or the Colt Mustang. I haven't priced either in a while but I'd be surprised if they're much cheaper than the Colt.

If you're looking for something in that class of weapon check out the Czech Cz-83. Supposedly very comfortable to shoot and reliable and reasonably priced (sub $300 IIRC).
