Taurus PT-945 vs Ruger KP97

Given a choice between these 2 .45's, which would you pick, and why?

Still trying to narrow my .45 search......

I went out and put 100 rnds through my KP97DAO today. It wiil be my carry gun for a week until after we get back from the IDPA nationals. I have cleaned my KP95DC (primary comp gun) and my KP95DAO (carry gun and back up comp gun) and their mags and don't want to get them dirty.

One BIG reason to pick the Ruger is the type of service after the sale you will get from Ruger as opposed to what you will get from Taurus.

I would suggest the decock model for the single action after the first shot. A little more easy to hit with. Although, I can keep at least 95% of my shots inside the head of a B-27 at 25 yds with no problem. If it is to be your carry piece you might want the DAO. Sorry, I see where your in CT. Do you have CCW there?

Also get the factory mags to go with your two that come with the gun. And I put skateboard tape on the front and rear of my Poly framed Rugers.

Hope I have been of some help.

Although I am a fan of Taurus pistols, and NOT a fan of Ruger Semi-autos, barring .22's of course. I have a friend who's been torture testing his Ruger .45 at this point he has well over 21k rounds and it has yet to hiccup. On the other hand, my Taurus .45 lasted all of 9k before getting a cracked frame. Taurus will stand by it and replace it, but I will sell as soon as I get it and pick up another 1911.

And Ruger auto's are like S&W auto's. They'll fire and fire and fire and fire, get the picture? They'll feed anything all day long.

Ruger

I have owned both and still own the Ruger. The Ruger has a better feel and is much more accurate than Taurus was,at least in my hands.Hope this helps.

I don't know a thing about the Taurus, but it's hard to imagine it being a tougher or more reliable weapon than my Ruger P97. It never fails to function plus, with a 16 lb. recoil spring, it even shoots .45 Super. It may be the ugliest firearm around, but what a shooter.

P97 Or P90

Go with Ruger in either the P97 if you want the polymerframe, or the P90 for alloy frame. Rugers are rugged, and very accurate.

BTW Rugers customer service is excellant. Dought you'll need it though!
