Taurus PT 101

I have a 101AF...very accurate w/cast bullets. As I have a 99AF as well, I don't shoot the .40 very much as I am afraid that parts will break on it. Had a barrel crack and two locking bolts break on the 99AF..

The .40 hits harder than the 9mm...it is more accurate and I get no barrel leading.....I really do like it.

When looking at any gun, I first determine its cost relative to known guns.
Then I buy Rugers and EAA Witnesses and S&W.

When I buy a Taurus I recognize that the quality relates only to the one in my hand......

but it ain't a 101 :D

Here's a 2012 thread about the Taurus PT 101 with pros and cons.

This seems to sum it up quite nicely as far as quality is concerned...LOTS of folk have perfectly good guns from Taurus but it seems that Taurus has more problems than other gun makers...

What's this mean??? If I buy a Ruger I have a 97% chance of getting a gun with no manufacturing problems...If I buy a Taurus maybe an 85% chance. (Those percentages are made up.) Shrug. You pays your money, you takes your chances.

One thing about the Taurus is that quite a few people rabidly endorse the FRAME mounted safety instead of the SLIDE mounted safety on the Beretta 92fs. (I'm one of them-but I'd still rather have the Beretta.)

460 Rowland

I have a a 460 conversion from Rowland for my Glock 21. Even though it was more money I felt with the high power, I would go to the experts who originally developed and made it. Kit comes with the comp and 24lb spring. I also bought 2 of the heavier mag spring and a box of 185gr Nosler HP's from them. Originally I bought a complete Glock 20 in 10mm. Then had a chance to pick up a complete Glock 21 upper. Since they share the same frame I can just switch the uppers around. Have not shot yet, frame is at Robar getting a grip reduction.
Will report on once I have had an oportunity to shoot.

I have had the Taurus version of the Beretta 92 for over 20 years. It has been a very good pistol. The Taurus copies of the Berettas have a better reputation than some of their other guns.
