Taurus' New (old?) Model 62

Ok, this might be a little out of left field, but I have a little problem. I want to get my girlfriend her first gun, and I am looking at pump-action .22s. I offered to get her a semi-auto, but she said she liked the "sound" of the pump! What a girl!

So, the question is, what's the best kind of .22 pump-action around? And I'm talking about still-in-production guns here, not collectibles that we sould sit around and look at. That's no fun. I checked out the Henry .22 and then found out that Taurus has bought the rights to Winchester's Model 62. This is what I would love to get, but I haven't heard anything about it. Anybody know anything? Heard anything? Thank you.

BTW, if you're interested, here's the address:

I own one and I'll have to say pass. Accuracy is sub standard, the sights are poorly thought out. The "pump" isn't satisfying like a real shotgun. It is a good looking, well made gun, just not very practical. Decent enough for plinking I guess. If that doesn't deter you I can guarantee you that your girlfriend would grow tired of the "pump" and want an auto or a bolt instead.

For the same money you could get her a top of the line Ruger 10/22, which at the very least, even if she grew tired of it I doubt you would :D.

You might also consider a used 20 gauge if she's into the "pump" action.

too bad

That's too bad. I was hoping it'd be close to the quality of the old winchesters. Well...has anyone heard about the Henry pumps? I really want to avoid getting a semi-auto for her first gun.

BTW, thanks ATeaM (and know I've got that damn theme song in my head)
