Taurus Model 94 Question

I recently bought a Taurus Model 94 revolver in .22LR to use for teaching beginners to shoot. It's my understanding that this series is built on Taurus' small frame. They come with small, round butt, "boot" style grips in nubbly rubber. I don't like anything about the grips; not the look, not the feel, not the material. Nada.

I would, ideally, like to find some round-to-square butt conversion grips that will fit this gun. Checkered wood would be my first preference, and behind that it's probably a tie between checkered rubber and smooth wood. The problem is, I can't find any source for conversion grips for the small frame Tauri -- or even for small-frame S&W, for that matter.

Does anyone know of any potential sources?

Thank you. I have already seen that page, but they offer nothing that's in a square butt configuration. See the second photo above -- that's the shape I'm looking for.

Got it.

I like mine, and want another!. The blue ones look very good, I do not care much for the SS models. IIRC theres a thread about this over on Taurusarmed.net I remember someone looking for wood also.

Love mine. Accurate little sucker.

I took care of the trigger pull problem by dry firing 500-1000 times with snapcaps. Not at one time either. I used the dry fire practice to get used to the trigger and the revolver's characteristics.

Things smoothed out and lightened up.

I would not change the springs in the gun. The .22lrf cartridges need a healthy whack to set off the primer reliably. Those who have changed the spring have had issues with misfires.

The Taurus 990 is something I also have. It likes to punch 1.2 inch groups at 25 yards.

By the way, do you and the new shooters like the 94?
The students don't know enough to like it or not like it. If they can keep nine shots on paper and I give them their certificate suitable for framing ... they like it.

Mine is blued, and the finish is better than I expected from Taurus. The trigger pull out of the box was beyond horrendous. If I recall correctly, the DA pull was in excess of 20 pounds, and single action was around 12. I have a printed copy of the Wolff gun spring catalog that's a few years old. In that I found a spring kit for small-frame Taurus revolvers that was listed for several pistols, including the Model 94. Interestingly, the same spring kit is NOT listed for the 94 (or the 941) on Wolff's web site. I bought the kit. It included a new hammer spring and two different trigger return springs. I installed it using the lighter trigger spring, and it brought the DA pull down to about 12 pounds, which is tolerable. The single action pull is (IIRC) still around 6 or 7 pounds, which is heavier than it should be but probably not a bad weight for an instructional handgun.
