Taurus Mocks Me

It's the "factory standard" porting on the Titanium guns. It's really aggravating me.

All I want is a light-weight, hammerless snubbie, and if it weren't for the extra holes in the barrel (only need two!), the 850T would be simply dreamy. Sigh.

Notice that the 850T only weighs 1 ounce less than the aluminum 85UL, which isn't ported.

So I could go stainless, and deal with the weight.

Or I could go hammered (ahem!) and deal with the hammer.

Or I could wait for a pre-agreement 342 to come along locally. (I'm leery of buying pre-owned goods sight-unseen, not to mention the added expense and hassle of online gun transactions)

I think they're doing it just to spite me. :(

You can always go with the new 851 (at least once it gets to the dealers). It is the new shrouded hammer version, so while there is a hammer like the 85, the hammer won't be able to snag on clothing. The aluminum UL version isn't ported and from the looks of the website the ULT (aluminum and titanium) isn't either (the regular titanium model is however).

The 851 is a possibility. But the hammer is still exposed, and I don't think I want to deal with that. It deviates too far from my original intent with a pocket gun.

It's now a toss-up between less weight or an un-ported barrel, and it's pretty much 50/50 right now.

Mostly, I just can't see the logic of Taurus restricting the 850 offerings. The hammerless snubbie is a very pure concept. It doesn't make sense to then limit its appeal by only producing 3 versions, all at the far ends of the weight spectrum. The 851 is new, and is immediately produced in 6 versions of various weights. I wonder why that is.

There's a cure for those damn ports.

JB-Weld :D.

(running and ducking before the purists completely freak out :D...)

A few wraps of duct tape would work, too, but I worry about adding too much weight. :)

Moot, anyway. Spent 10 hours at the vet office today with my Rotty near death. Gonna be expensive, whether she pulls through or not. :(

Well I've been a "happy" Taurus person for a long time.
It all ended yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've got an 85T that has a "bright spectrum blue" finish that is
wearing off.
It's 2.5 years old,so the limited warranty on cosmetics is gone,
and they won't do a thing for me.
They won't even let ME PAY to get it redone the same color.
FU*K THEM.
Buy a S&W!!!!!!!!!!
I have a few Taurus guns that will be up for sale real soon.
I don't need to support a company that will not stand behind
it's product!!!!!!!!!!
