Taurus Millennium .45 - opinions?

Hey fellas! Haven't had a chance to log on in a while - been hunting!

Anyhow, this weekend I got a chance to handle a Taurus PT145 Millennium in stainless. From what I could see, they have much improved on the original Millennium design. The trigger, believe it or not, was actually comfortable and halfway smooth, comparable to the Patriot .45. The fit and finish was more than passable, and the slide seemed to cycle very smoothly. The price was 360$ brand new.

I've been considering a Glock 30, but in all honesty the Taurus feels better and seems smaller with the same capacity. I know there's probably no comparison in reliability and durability, but I do like the overall feel of the gun. Didn't Taurus also offer to make this same gun in Titanium?

Do any of you fellas have experience with this gun? Any info would be appreciated.

I know Taurus has advertised the Titanium version but have not found one yet. I am at odds with you also. I just got back from the local gun shop here and handled both the Taurus PT-145 and the Glock .45 subcompact. I believe the handle feels more comfortable on the Taurus. The Glock handle feels too big for me. Feels like if my hands were sweaty I would drop the Glock. I know they offer rubber slide over grips for the Glock but that would make it even bigger in my hand.

On the other hand, I like the trigger on the Glock. The light trigger pull on the Glock is nice. Taurus pull is a little heavier. Maybe someone out there knows someone who does trigger jobs to drop the poundage on the pull of the Taurus. If so then I'll be going with the Taurus.

One of the local gun shops here wants $440 for the SS version. I think thats extremely too high. I have found them for alot less.

Hi Big Al.
Welcome back!! I have a PT145. I have 600 rounds through it to date with no significant problems. The only one was a burr on my ejector that precluded my putting it back together until a couple swipes of a file solved the problem. Of course, i took it into my gunsmith just to be sure... All is fine. I carry mine on a regular basis now. The gun is fully capable of sub 3in groups at 25 yards!!! One plus: if you own a Glock 26, your holster will fit the PT145!!!

I'll toss in another positive vote for the PT-145. My PT-145 is the blued version, and the fit and finish are very good. No rattles or loose parts on my gun.

I love the way the gun fits my hand, and one has to admit, the PT-145 looks bad ass too.

I have shot 20 rounds through it and it shot fine with no FTFs. I didn't have any major issues with the trigger as it is not designed to be a target gun, but instead a CCW pocket rocket! :)

I too am very happy with the little P145. With over 500 rounds fired, not one problem. Also a joy to carry concealed. I also have a G30 to compair it with.

PT-145

As mentioned in a previous post, I've had big problems with mine in a short amount of time. Like most others who bought this pistol I compared it to the Glock 30. I love the look, feel, and weight of the PT-145, the comfort of the grip was exponentially better than the Glock in my hand. But after 350 rounds I had 5 light strikes and the trigger return mechanism broke. Taurus has it now for repair. I'm hoping I only got a lemon, because I love that pistol. Since I've sent mine off, I've had to consider something else for reliability reasons, but I don't know what else I would like better.

Just a quick question. Does anyone know if you can get a trigger job done on the 145 or have the trigger pull weight lowered to mimmic the Glocks light pull? Just curious.....

Yes they do make it in Titanium and they have a lift time warrenty. So even if the durability is not as good as the glock all you have to do is send it back and they will fix it or send you a new gun. As far as reliability, I know someone that has one (not titanium) and he has never had a problem with it.

Been there. Done that!! No, the pull cannot be altered without affecting the dynamics of the mechanism!!!

I've heard nothing but good things about the Taurus PT145. I prefer the .40 S&W over the .45 ACP for personal defense, so I just put a stainless PT140 on layaway on Friday.

$360 is not a bad price. At Simmons in Bessemer, AL the PT145 is on sale for $349 :D. At the same store, my PT140 went for $339. Even the store that usually has the lowest prices in Alabama had the PT145 going for $379.

I read an article called "New-Millennium Pocket Pistols" in Shooting Times. It featured the Glock 36, Kinmber Ultra CDP, S&W Model CS45 and the Taurus PT145. It was rated only behind the Kimber for accuracy--2.21" average compared to a 2.23" average. That's virtually the same! And a big plus is that it has 10-round magazine. The others only had six!

Taurus hit a home run with the PT145!

I have a Glock 30.

But the Taurus PT-145 is attractive. I put them side by side and the PT-145 is thinner, and shorter by a good half and inch overall. And the grip is really conforming to my hand. No Pearce grips needed for those that carry the G30 with a ( round mag for deep CCW.

And you'll have to shoot some fast 200 grain HPs due to the short barrel.

But, like you folks have noted. The trigger is a tad stiff and heavy. But like was stated, its not a target gun. FYI, lots of Glocksters shoot IPSC, IPDA, GSSF with the G30s.

But the PT-145 is nice.

I'm thinking about getting one. Any pix of the SS versions?

But DENFOOTE!

Will it fit my Fobus G26 holster? ;)

Yuppers!! I just tried it!! It's way tight though. I wouldn't want to use it, although it may loosten up with time. But the gun goes in and snaps into the retention notch!!

With regards to my previous post about the accuracy, here is a target I shot today. The range is 25 yards!!
