I was thinking of adding a 45ACP revolver to my 45 Semi Auto collection. And my dealer just got in a Taurus 455 4" with porting and looked nice and trigger was smooth. But does anyone have one and how do they like it. Any problems ?? It will be primarily for Range use.

Thanks :D

I haven't seen them yet, as my dealer doesn't stock Taurus guns. But I have heard people mention that the full moon clips are proprietary (since it's a 5 shot, right?). I've read that the clips aren't all that sturdy.

You probably want to pick up extra moon clips and a demooner tool. Also, let us know how strong the clips are.

Had a 627 .357 Tracker and I loved it. Same design as the 455 your talking about. It shot well and recoil was tamed by the porting and ribber grips. I thought the grips were awesome. Dont know about the moon clips for the .45 though.

Another fellah here wanted a .357 Tracker so I traded him for a G19 (2nd Gen) with 1 ea. 15 round and 4 ea 17 round (G17) mags. Couldnt pass that deal up but am gonna replace the 627 with a new one soon.

I had a Tracker 41 mag. Same format and I liked mine very much. It took two guns to replace it. The last Handloader magizine has an article about it that is very positive.

I evaluated one for S.W.A.T. for the November issue. I liked it and found it enjoyable to shoot, but the Stellar moon clips did not hold the cartridges as firmly as I would have preferred.

Denny, I heard a rumor that the 45 ACP Taurus revolver didn't work with the 45 Auto Rim. Did you try any of those loads when you did your evaluation?

JohnK-

I wanted to and planned to, but when the time came to shoot I could not find any Auto Rim fodder locally. Sorry.

Denny

Quite alright Denny. It just sounds odd that it would work with ACP and a moon clip but wouldn't with auto rim brass since that works so well on the Smith 45 ACPs.

The one in my local shop will not take Auto Rim cartridges. We tried. The rim on these is thick enough to keep the cylinder from closing. It appears that the rim is just enough thicker than what the ACP cartridges are in the clip.
