Taurus Judge vs Taurus Public Defender??

I carry the Public Defender as a trail gun and general CCW piece. It is small enough to carry and hide in and out of the woods. The bobbed hammer can be cocked for single action. It's a great ATV sidearm. It's also surprisingly accurate with Winchester 45LC Silver Tips and the front fiber optic sights are great. I generally use the Federal 000 Buck loads for the pistol. Without going ino details, it is very lethal up to deer size game. We had to dispatch some issues on the farm.:). From 45LC for large game to #9 shot for chipmunks, no other gun has this versatility and I highly recomend the PD.

Here is some of my revolvers. It's a good size comparison pic.

I bought an S&W Governor

I have handled both the Judge & Public Defender. I initially was going to buy a Public Defender Blued Steel as my Anti-Car Jacking gun so I did my homework & even took a look at the new S&W Governor. I handled it in the store. I liked the fit, finish, & the grip felt nice. I like the Extra 6th shot the S&W offers & the fact that you can shoot also the .45acp rounds with supplied moon clips. I took the gun to the range this past weekend & just loved the weapons performance. The gun was very balanced, surprisingly accurate with the 45 long colt & .410 PDX1 & 000 Winchester Buckshot between 7 & 10yrds. The gun was very consistent. I would recommend this gun highly as a good car gun or even an HD option. My advice to you would even be to look at the Governor too. My friend shot my Governor & now he wants to put one on his to buy list.

I really like the Polymer Public Defender. With the larger grips installed (I got mine from Midway part#4-425) it is easier to shoot than with the stock grips.

I usually carry mine with the Federal OOO buck, but tried it out a couple of weeks ago with the Federal ¼ oz. slugs. Low recoil, very accurate good penetration (three jugs).

Light enough that my daughter had no trouble shooting them.

Hey, kids, - let's stay on the specific question rather than going off on the platform's concept.

We have enough general Judge, 410 threads.

Thanks

I also have a PD Poly as a "truck gun" which resides in a cheap air-soft holster by Crosman between the driver's seat, and center console of my Dodge Ram. The holster fits it perfectly, and has Velcro lined belt flaps that help secure it to the side of the seat. It gets locked in a secure box bolted in the storage box under the center seat when i'm not in the truck. Loaded with Federal handgun 000buck first two up, and Winchester PDX1 225 GR bonded HP for the next three. It also is easily carried in the woods, and fields, and loaded with 410 rounds of 7 1/2 bird shot is devastating to threatening snakes at 10-15 feet.
It's also a lot of fun just to shoot with the shotgun loads of various shot sizes.
To me the advantages of lighter weight, and smaller, more convenient size makes the PD Poly the best choice for my purposes in a Judge type revolver.

3o3brit - - that pic with the young lady shooting is impressive. I was thinking the steel frame Public Defenders might be a little better handling with their few ounces more of weight. But it looks like the poly framed guns work just fine.
