A few months ago I was at Sportsmens Warehouse looking at the small 38 spl. revolvers for a ccw. At that time was shown a Kahr auto and ended up buying it. Now I'll get to the point, back when I was looking at the small 38s I was shown a 5 shot 357 that was real close to the size of the little 38. I think it was air weight or light weight. I was worried about +p in the 38s, but with the 357 there would not be any power worries. Does anyone know what model I'm talking about? (almost sure it was taurus) Does any one know any other guns that would be in the 5 shot 357 family? Thanks for any help.

Go to the taurususa website....

They list them there. I have the taurus 605 357mag in stainless steel 2in barrel. It's a great gun. You can shoot +p and 357 rounds, and the gun will take it. But too many 357's can be brutal at the range. I find the 38spl and 357 rounds to be more accurate than the 38+p's, but that's just my experience. Check out the gun. You'll like it. I keep it loaded with 158gn 38 spl sjhp. In case my wife has to use it. Trigger is super nice. :D

I do believe that all of Taurus's .38's are rated for +P loads.

Well at least my Taurus 85 ultra-lite is, .357 magnums have too much recoil for me in a 2" ultra-lite snubnosed revolver, the recovery time required for follow up shots is unacceptable (for me at least).

I spend alot of time at the range, probably too much in fact..

But I cant gaurantee that I wont miss in a panic type, emergency situation so I would prefer to get "back on target" as quickly as possible.

So for my needs at least, the .38 works better even if I sacrifice a bit of ummmphhh per cartridge.

Yeah, Harley, it sounds like the 605 model. I have one as well, and it is a solid little gun. I've shot 158g and 125g Magnum rounds through it without a hitch. The hand gets a wee bit sore after 50 rounds or so, though.

I have a Taurus 85 made in 1998. I took today off from work and ran 200 Winchester 125GR+Ps through it. I have been doing this for years and this little beauty shoots out the center ring on the targets. Best $213.00 I ever spent. Mine is blued steel. All the Taurus snubs are great. Current 85's are rated for +Ps but with the 357 version you have more ammunition to choose from.

I have a old Taurus Model 80 .38 that is a workhorse. Very underrated. There is nothing a S&W Model 10 will do that the Taurus 80 won't. And I'm a S&W man. Good guns for the money.

In looking for a reliable handgun for summer carry, I ended up buying a Taurus 85 Ultra-Lite .38Spl. +p. :D It is black with pearl grips, and gold Trigger, hammer, and cylinder release. What a nice gun!

For me the Taurus current web site is a little tough to find what you're looking for. Try http://www.genitron.com database of all pistol mfg's, photo's, spec's and mrsp's. :)

Good luck...
