Taurus Finish Problem

I have a taurus raging judge ultra lite with silver finish. When I cleaned the gun for the first time using break free CLP cleaner I noticed three dark spots on the Left side of frame. I sent it back to taurus and customer service person told me it was normal, that is was the internal pins inside of frame. I told her it only took them 7 weeks to come up with that answer, I told her to send gun back to me since they aren't going to fix it. This was my first and last purchase of taurus product. Has anybody had same issues with silver finish?

Raging Bull 44 matte SS

I have powder burn issues after I fired 200 rounds. The front of the cylinder and around the porting holes. I tried cleaning 'em with Break free and Venom bore cleaner but it wouldn't budge. So I just left it alone. My gun is not even thrree months old. I figured it'll get dirty again anyaway. Just as long as it keeps firing everytime I pulled the trigger I'm okay with powder stain. LOL.. Good luck....

Dwayne:

Black powder stains on a stainless gun at the porting, the muzzle and the front of the cylinder happen to all revolvers: even on blue guns, you just can't see it on blue guns. For stainless revolvers only, the lead away cloth works wonders. It is a lot of work so on my Smith & Wesson 625 I don't pay much attention to it.

I've had issues with ultra lite finishes (stains ,rub marks ect...) on Taurus and other firearms...I think its pretty much a given with alloy frames....

Taurus Finish Problems

Here is a picture of my Taurus. Customer service said these are internal pins, I told them they wasn't there before I cleaned gun after shooting. Anyway I told them to send it back to me since they aren't going to fix it. The gun is a good shooter, but Taurus needs to clean house at their customer service center starting at the top. Thanks guys for your info!

It's hard to tell what's going on from the pictures. Is it bubbling?

Check out this pic from the link .9mm provided...

If it's just discoloration of the pins, I wouldn't worry about it. Shoot the thing and enjoy. I would guess the pins have a different surface finish than the rest of the gun which makes removing the powder residue difficult.

Judging from the pic in Shadi Khalil's post, I'd say they're just internal pins. A lot of the new so-called "stainless" guns, are just finished in a silver color. It could be the finish flaked off, or didn't take well where the pins meet the frame. It still looks good, and if it shoots well, have fun with it.

I know nothing of the Judge and have only glanced at them in the case. However, it should be pretty easy for the OP to distinguish pins from finish problems. Now, if some how the finish is on top of the pins (don't know if Taurus is using paint on finish like some smiths) and is now bubbling, that could be a potential problem for the rest of the finish. I also wouldn't put too much stock in the assessment Taurus gave as they are notorious for sending back guns with the same issues they got sent in for. I think better pics will put this to rest.

If it is just the pins, be thankful that is the only issue you have. Go shoot it and don't sweat it because with a Taurus, you could always have a much bigger problem than the finish.

When I bought the gun new those pins wasn't exposed, it had a complete silver finish, when I cleaned the gun for the first time with break free gun cleaner that's when I noticed the pins. The only reason I sent gun back to Taurus is because of the One Year Warranty on the finish of gun. I guess the ionize process didn't take on the pins, from what I understand this process is done in some type of chemical bath with a electrical charge running through bath. Some other gun companies can make the gun any color they want with this process, it's not paint. We'll keep the gun when we get it back, it shot very good groups with the 45's. I'm sure Taurus makes some very good guns, they just need to work on their customer service, that's what would keep anybody from buying a Taurus. Sorry I wrote so much just wanted to answer all the questions. Thanks for the picture it cleared up my question, I thought they were shooting me some bull about the internal pins.

Here is a picture of a new Taurus Raging Judge. By the way these guns holds 7 rounds in cylinder. This is what the gun looked like when I bought it new.
