Taurus cylinder removal

The cylinder on my Taurus 850 does not turn free enough to suit me. I would like to clean the cylinder shaft and re-lube it.

My question: How do I remove the cylinder from its shaft?

I don't now own a Taurus, but IIRC they are like the S&W. Remove the front sideplate screw. Then open the cylinder and slip the crane out to the front. Be careful not to lose the cylinder stop plunger and spring in the crane. The cylinder can then be pulled backward off the crane. Further disassembly of the ejector rod and cylinder parts is not recommended or needed.

S&W and Taurus cylinders are different. While the S&W cylinder rotates on a sleeve mounted on the crane frame, the Taurus is rigidly attached and will not slip off.

Waitone,

I'm anxiously awaiting an answer to this one, too. My 850 is exactly the same, the cylinder spins a lot harder than any Ruger, Smitty or other Taurus I've owned. I'm wondering if we can dissemble these things at all to clean and lube them.
