Taurus 9mm 905 accuracy???

Shooting my Taurus 9mm 905 can't hit anything at 15 yards gun must be off 18 inches, at 7 yards have to say accurate just shooting a little high.Is it the gun and are most the same,All ammo tried has been the same shot three different brands plus reloads.Wanted to use it for CCW but if can't do better at 15 yards it's junk  I would be happy with a 6 inch group for that little gun but never happen not at 15 yards do I expect to much:(

Taurus 905 on target

I have the Taurus 905 and have been able to hit my targets fairly well. At 7 yards it is hitting in about a 2" or less circle. At 25 yards with my wrists supported on sand bags I can place the shots on an 8.5X11 inch sheet of paper. Not too bad for a 2" snub.

Poor to no accuracy is a Taurus 905 hallmark. They are considerably off. This is reported by many owners and is the main reason they are showing up on the used market. I couldn't hit a bullet with a barn with my 905. I wanted one as a BUG. I got one, shot 50 rounds through it and traded it at a gun show. I can only say that it did have 100% positive ignition.

Since starting this post and shooting the little gun have found that accuracy has gotten better.(gun or me??).At 15 yards yesterday it put six in the bullseye and all the others were 2 to 6 inches away only fired 15 shots using WWB.As far as consistently hitting at long distance I think you can forget it.Up close I think it does the job that small 2" barrel is not going to be accurate at long distances think at 15 yards am pushing it.But I realy like the little gun have also found that gun heats up fast about 15 to 20 rounds and seems to lose what accuracy it has.As far as them using the .357 barrel I guess you never know makes you wonder. :)

Have you tried shooting her from a rest? 2" barrel should handle 9mm just fine out to and beyond 25 yards as long as you keep her steady. Snubbies are accurate, just takes time for the users to train to get to that. Longer sight radius is why a longer barreled gun is more accurate..

905 barrel

I am not sure about whether the 905 barrel is a Taurus' .357 barrel. From what I have read the frame is that of a .38 special Taurus model 85. Then I read somewhere else that speculation was that the cylinder was that of their .357 model 605. I can't say for sure what is what on the gun. I do know that with 300+ rounds through the gun it has proven reliable in terms of firing and accuracy. Even my wife, a person that is NOT fond of guns and only shoots it about 50 rounds every couple of months, is putting shots in a 6" circle at 7 yards with double action firing. And for self-defense I would not expect her to be shooting further than that.

How much experience have you had with revolvers and especially short barreled revolvers? I ask this because in a months time your accuracy has improved.

I shoot about 10.000 to 12.000 if not more per year of .38,.45,.357,.9mm most all of my guns are 4" or shorter barrels. But do feel am getting more comfortable with the gun. What happened the first time I fired it didn't have a firm hold on the very short grip, and it came back and put a good size cut on my hand.Waited a week first shot split that sucker wide open .Had to wait about three weeks before I dared to shoot it again.Sent away and got a little bigger grip hand is just to big for that little grip. Also have been trying different ammo to see what one it likes the best.So far I think WWB is doing the best most was shooting wide right WWB is about dead on. :p

Curious.

I pick up a new one last week, and I am extremely pleased with its performance and accuracy.

And compared to my 12 oz scandium Smith .357, it is a dream to shoot (not surprisingly).
