I guess it's a 906, etc. Anyway, acquaintance of mine says, don't get one; he had one; he couldn't get it to fire half the time, because of light primer strikes, with factory ammo. Is this a common problem? Anyone else owned one? Work or not work?

I had one for a little while not
to long ago.It was a 905SS,i did
not have any failures at all.It
was accurate enough at 15-20
yards.The prblems started when i
fired some black hills 115gr +p's
in it,The shells would stick real
bad.I called taurus and when i
advised them of the problem they
said it was not rated for +P
ammo.I had called them before i
bought it,they said limited use
of +P's would be ok.I sold it
the next day at a loss,i did
advise the buyer of the ammo
issues.

You might try getting a heavier mainspring for it or do what I did and put a shim in it. Also check to see that the cylinder is locking up. My 450 would fire single action but not double. Two problems: the bolt was hanging up and not locking the cylinder causing it to over rotate and the firing pin would hit the rim and the weak spring as mentioned before.A little polishing and everything works.

I got a 905 a month or so ago in 9mm think it is a great little gun but can only fire it about 25 times before the bone in my thumb starts to hurt. That little 2 inch barrel at 15 yards shoots about 4" to the left shooting WWB is about 2 ". Have had no problem with it firing every round and yes the trigger in DA is awful and almost to lite in SA.Will I get another Taurus I think I will. The only bad thing was I didn't hang on tight with that first shot and the hammer came back and got me and had to wait almost a month to shoot it

Wonder if your friend's "hammer" problem wasn't a headspace problem? This may be a problem of rimless rounds moving forward. Do his stellar clips fit properly?

Well, it could have been a headspace problem, and in fact, he suspected as much - he *think* that since the moonclips are so thin, this allows them to bend and the rounds to move too far into the cylinders. But I have a Taurus in .45 acp that uses these same flimsy clips, which gets bent up a little, but it fires every time, so dunno.

Let's see...hammer bite, POI off, headspace problems, bad trigger....I think I'll pass, for now.

905

I have a 905 and have had great success with it. The only exception being with some of the CCI Blazer brass rounds. Out of 200 Winchester and 50 Remington and 50 of the CCI Blazer I had only 4 failures to fire...of which all 4 were with the CCI Blazers. The gun has been right on the money out to 7 yards both double and single action. And it is no problem to place shots on an 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper at 25 yards...supported of course for me.
