Taurus 94 or Ruger SP 101 in 22 Cal??

I'm about to buy a 22LR revolver and have
narrowed my choices down to the Taurus M94
and the Ruger SP-101, both with 4 inch bbl.
The Taurus cost $292 while the Ruger is $351.
Would appreciate opinions on the pros and cons
of one vs. the other.

Thanks.

:) I went through the same decision process. Decided on the ruger for durability and compatability to the 357 I have. I did a trigger job on it as I have on my other sp. They feel the same to shoot. The 22 is a little heavier though. It shoots very well, accuracy is excellent. Rapid shots at 21 feet will all fit in the 9 and 10 of a B-27. I would make the same decision again. The ruger is a tank and will last longer than you will. The taurus I picked up was out of time. Go ruger.

I've had a Taurus 94 w/ 4" barrel for A LONG time. Got it primarily because it was cheap. Now, after all these years and many many rounds, I'm glad I bought it.

Own the Taurus '94 ... a fun gun. In fact, it's the only piece that goes with me to the range every trip ... stays in my bag. (And I have several to choose from.)

I may not always shoot it while there, depending upon the other ones that make the trip with it, but it's always there.

Mine is 6", Stainless, 9-shot LR ... love it! Wonder what the .22 WMR version is like? Anyone have it?

(Have several Rugers, but never shot a 101.)

The accuracy is more than adequate. Usually after a box of 50 rounds, I have holes on my target I can drop a nickle through. I go through about 500 rounds every time I shoot it...22lr's are SOOO MUCH FUN! ;)

CZ Gunner-
I have the 22 Mag 941 in 4" stainless. Had it for six or seven years ( it's old enough that it came with wood grips). It's more accurate than I am. I've put hundreds of rounds through it with no problems.

I'd go with the Taurus.....

The Taurus is a more contemporary design and has better capacity. I have handled the SP101 (which is a great gun in .357 mag) but I find it a very dated design for .22 LR.

I bought the 941 (.22 Mag) back in December, and just the other day picked up a 94 .22 LR. Both 4" full underlug barrel SS. Virtual twins, except for the caliber. I have several Rugers, but since I like the DA grip (fits my hand better) and wanted a matched pair, I had to go with the Taurus. Too bad Ruger doesnt make the SP in .22 Mag.

I haven't shot either much, but I like the way they feel in my hand. At some point, hopefully in the not too distant future, I'll put them both though their paces side by side to try to find their preferred ammo choices.

You can always get a lemon, in both cars and guns. Pick which one "fits" you best and then if the gun you get has problems send it back until it's right. In my experience, both makers will work with you to fix their mistakes.

"Old enough that it came with the wood grips"....hmmmm, mine must be an older one as well. I have the wood grips w/ the gold medallion.:)
