Does anyone have any input on these ? Need both good and bad information if anyone has it. Was looking at both for a carry piece and was wondering if the extra few oz's are worth it? Also was wondering if the conceled hammer is prefered or not. What can one expect to pay for these, and would you do it again? Thanks

Hi Newman...

We have two Tauri, a 731UL for me and a 85 Total Ti for my wife. Same size and both are about as close to perfect as you can get. VERY nice triggers. The Ti is one ounce lighter. Yes, I'd buy them again. (And again.:D ) I thought about the concealed hammer, but the Taurus hammer is short and flat. Unlike my S&W's, the Taurus hammer never gouge's me in the arm. I can't remember exactly how much I paid for either one, but it was somewhere in the $350 range.

85 UL "Police"

I have the 85 UL "Police" -- the 2 tone model with the bright stainless concealed hammer.

I love it. Great gun. Easy to conceal in a pocket. Shoots like a tack driver. Recoil is very manageable -- even with +P loads. I would definitely buy it again.

I think a standard hammer would be difficult for me b/c I tend to front pocket carry. On the other hand, I like to see what the hammer is doing -- so I like the concealed hammer over the "hammerless" variety.

I paid $425 at my local dealer. I have seen them at gun shows for $375.

As you are probably aware the weights are about the same and the UL is cheaper - maybe $100 - $150 cheaper. The UL would be better if you are the kind of person the has to have the smoothest possible (Taurus) trigger on a gun or if you want to shoot lead bullets. In a 38 spl. the advantage of titanium (strength to weight ratio) is unused and therefore wasted.

One of my Tauri is an 85 Titanium - It looks cool and I got it cheap.
I changed some of the insides to the older style parts and like it better. But, it wasn't half bad to begin with.
