Taurus 85UL (am I crazy?)

I have a sweet Kel-Tec P11 9mm; it's light weight, accurate,
100%reliable, 10+1 capacity, polished trigger bar, etc. In fact
it's probably one of the best specemins of the P11 to come out
of George's factory. And I really like it. Yet for "whatever reason"
I keeping thinking about trading it off on a Taurus 85UL. Local
shop has one for $279NIB and they will give me a good trade-in
for the P11 (as it's where I bought it in the first place and they
sell quickly). I don't have any real good reasons for trading it off,
except I think it would carry easier and I have always wanted a
snubbie. So what do you think? Am I crazy?

It isn't the trade I'd make. I'd just save up for a snubbie and wouldn't get rid of a good reliable gun like that

Of course that's a choice you'll have to make.

Rough choice. I have traded up alot in the past year and sometimes I dont look back...just grinning at my new toy.
Sometimes its not the case and I still kick myself for doing it....
Its up to you. Shoot well

Everyone "needs" a good snubbie...

However, everyone "needs" a good 9MM too. If you can keep both, you'll be a much happier person.:)

I think of 9mm and .38spl as roughly equivilent calibers. The ammo also cost about the same. So if I could only have one I'd pick the .38 revo, since I can use both .38 and .357 in it, for a little variety.

Just my $.02

Based on the way you talk about your P-11, I bet you'd kick yourself if you traded it.

Keep the P-11!

Get both!

I followed the link in Mguffey's post...

..and it states that the cylinder of Total Ti Taurus is made from something other than titanium. My wife carries a Total Ti and I've always thought the cylinder was titanium. Does anyone know for sure? Just curious. By the way, it's a great revolver.

I am a 85UL fan . I presently have three and all are accurate and reliable. No problems at all with any of the three. I carry in my front pants pocket.

Kentucky: I also followed that link; it's a mistake, or possibly it's old information, and newer guns aren't included. The total Ti 85 cylinder is indeed titanium. The barrel has a stainless liner; maybe that's what they meant to say?

I've been happy with every Taurus revolver I've ever had or shot.

J.R. Bob...

I thought it might be a mistake.

I'm also very happy with my Taurus snubbie. It's not an 85, but it's the same basic frame. Mine is a 731UL which is chambered for the round which is quickly becoming my favorite snubbie cartridge, the .32 H&R Magnum.

matrix on Taurus page...

...lists the several flavors of "Total Titanium"
revolvers (linking straight to the Taurus pages).

Not all Total-Ti guns are truly
totally titanium. This liberty that Taurus takes
in its marketing often leads to confusion but
one reason I suspect they do it is to have
several price points.

Simple fact is that the real mostly titanium
guns cost more and the modest weight advantage
afforded by using more of the metal is, for
many, not cost justified.

S&W (gasp!) also confuses buyers in this area.

Best regards.
