Taurus 85 wood grips

Looking for some wooden grips to replace the stock rubber grips on my new Taurus 85UL.

Anyone have any suggestions? I want something small and slick to aid pocket carry -- the rubber is too "sticky" although I like them for shooting.

Also, if anyone has pics of an 85UL -- the 2-tone multi-alloy model -- with aftermarket grips -- that would be great. I am not sure what color wood is going to look right on this 2-tone gun.

Thanks for any info.

You can see my Taurus 85UL in this picture with Taurus rosewood grips. These grips are great, they really do make the grip much smaller than the rubber grip.

My 85UL is the stainless/aluminum alloy model.

I've put the Taurus rosewood boot grips on every small-frame taurus I've ever had. Excellent, excellent grip. Laminated wood, so it's moisture proof. Buy-em from Taurus directly. I reshape them slightly, knocking down the sharp edges on the finger grooves.

Ajax makes a nice wood boot grip that it is a little thinner than the Taurus wood grip, but it is not as comfortable for me as the Taurus grip. Also, it's plain wood, so sweat will discolor it.

I took some pictures last night.
Here's another of the 85UL with Taurus rosewood grips.

Thanks

Thanks for the pic. They look great on the gun. I also like the black/silver wood grips pictured in the other thread.

Decisions, decisions....

Taurus wood grips

Try Altamont at 1-800-626-5774. They look a lot like the factory wood composite grip (they might be the factory supplier?), and they have a black / silver grip.

a local gun smith carved me Goncalo Alves grips for my Taurus 85CH years ago. I do NOT like rubber grips on a CCW weapon. I have found through the years, that rubber grips print more, are harder to conceal, and are almost always fatter than good wood grips.

My CCW snubbies are not range guns, or target guns. I do not worry about how uncomfortable they might be to shoot. As long as I can control them, and shoot well, the momentary pain is well worth the extra concealability.
