Taurus 85 question

I'm going to be checking out an 85 on Monday. The owner says that it has Brazil mispelled as Brasil, and then an additional stamp that says Brazil.

Anyone know if these are worth more than any other average 85?

Brasil isn't a misspelling.

It sounds like the pistol might have been stamped for the Brazilian market then restamped for the North American market.

The national language of the country is Portugese and they spell it Brasil. We translate it into English as Brazil. Actually the official name is longer and translates to The United States of Brazil.

"Republica Federativa do Brasil". The star in the coat of arms bears the logo, "Estados Unidos Do Brasil".

(Federal Republic of Brazil; United States of Brazil.)

Got this from my college textbook on South America. In the opening chapter on Brasil, it uses the term on the star, so I guess it's the official name.

Hope this was of interest.
