taurus 709 slim not working

so I went shooting my 709 slim today and when i got home I took the gun apart and cleaned it, like i have done before. and i took the firing pin out and cleaned and lightly oiled it and then put it back in and then put the slide back together and put it back on the gun. well I pulled the trigger and herd the gun dry fire, i then pulled the trigger again and it won't dry fire in double action mode. unless i gently pull up on the slide and then it will fire every time. did i put something back together wrong? has anyone else had this problem? what's the deal.

what do you think is wrong?

My guess is that the sear is not releasing the striker in DA mode. When you pull the slide "up" as you described, the sear clears the striker foot and releases the striker.

Did you take the trigger assembly apart?

I thought 709s were double action on first shot, and single action only on the rest. I think your gun is working the way it should.

Though I really don't understand how you can have a second strike capability on a single action pull. Those Taurus guys are too smart for me.

When making a post, under the text field, there is an option for manage attachments. That lets you load pics.

There is a file size limit, and resizing the image is best. If you have windows, opening the pic in paint will allow easy resizing, unless you have another program that has that capability that you prefer.

Here's what I do not understand why would me cleaning and re oiling the gun cause this to happen cause that is all I did was clean it?

From what ive read the second strike thing is pretty gimmicky. The striker only cocks a part of the way delivering a much weaker hit on the primer in second strike mode. Are you mistaking this lighter hit on the primer for no hit at all?

That's the cause of about 75% of all gun malfunctions

They REALLY don't need to be disassembled to clean them that often, beyond a normal "field stripping"

easiest way to post pics w/o having to worry about file size or type etc. is to www.photobucket.com abd set a free account. make sure when you sign up, you un check, automatically post to facebook. after you upload a pic, there will be sharing link options on the right, you click the bottm option to share image. just copy it and paste to the forum page. that easy. seems like a pain in the ass, but it is not once you do it once. plus everyone likes pics and they make the threads much more interesting and fun

http://s998.photobucket.com/user/nwalker73/media/Mobile Uploads/IMAG0062_zpsnoxg0ccf.jpg.html?o=51 this will show you the sharing options on right of pic

I will try to post some pics for you guys to see today. But do you guys think that the gun can be fixed without having to send it in to taurus?

There's no way to know without seeing it disassembled.

If you don't want to set up an account, you can go to imgur.com and upload any picture from your computer. It will give you an HTML-friendly link that you can post here to display the image. Total time required is under a minute (after taking the picture and putting it on your computer, of course).

ok guys here is a pic of the frame and the slide the frame is blurry, so if you need me to post another pic let my know

We need a sharper image of the striker assembly in the slide and the trigger group in the frame.

Can you make a video of you pulling the trigger while recording the open frame?

So I went to the range this morning with my 709 and the gun shoots fine it fires every time. And it will dry fire if I put a dummy round in the gun. But it still won't dry fire in da mode with the gun empty like it did when I bought it.

I figured out my 709 problem tonight. I found a due on the back edge of the sear this was hanging up on the firing pin so I took it off with my dremel and the gun dry fires like it use too now.

Lots of sharp corners and unfinished edges inside those guns but they function great.

I love the trigger pull and the price. It's the best deal I've seen in years.
