Taurus 627...Titanium or Stainless

After looking at alot of models of revolvers, I have conluded the 627 Tracker from Taurus will be what I buy. I like it in 4" .357. One thing I'm undecided on is whether it's worth the extra money to get it in Titanium. I like the light weight but $110 extra is alot of money. I would primarily use this as a trail or hunting sidearm, but would probably carry it concealed on occasion. The Taurus website lists the Titanium as weighing 4 oz less than the stainless, and being the same lengh. Doe's anyone have an opinion on either of the two, or maybe a suggestion on another model or brand for my needs. thanks

Welcome to TFL!!!
I have the 627 Tracker in SS. As you probably know, the Ti. weighs 24.3oz's and the SS weighs 28.8. My semi-auto carry is an oz. less than the Ti. The price difference worked for me. :)

The titanium is lighter and thus possibly a bit better for CCW or trail use if you will use it a lot. However, the Trackers are pretty light for the size to begin with so I doubt the steel will be that tough to tote. Also, while Taurus titanium and S&W scandium are now pretty decent, they are still generally more trouble prone than the equivelent steel framed guns. If it was a small snub where every oz counts I might say go with the titanium, but for a belt gun it is probably best to save the cash and get the steel. Of course, that is just one opinion and if you really want the titanium and are just looking for justifications- it is lighter, it is the newer technology (what guy isn't impressed with that), and if you want it maybe it is better to say "why not" then "why".

Thanks for both of the replies gentlemen, and thanks for the welcome to the group.

I would opt for stainless also........I believe the Titanium has a problem with light loads, some where I read nothing less than 110g....Its sure something to check up on before purchase.

Hope this helps.
