Taurus 608 Stainless Steel

I just bought a Taurus 608 8-shot .357 magnum. It is a nice gun, although I was cleaning it and just noticed two small nicks at the front of the gun just above the barrel and below the front sight. The gun has a matte stainless finish. I have heard that you can sand them out with fine grit sand paper, but that will take off the matte finish. Is there a way to get them out without taking it to a gunsmith and having to have it sandblasted? I would not worry about it, but the gun is 1 hour old. There is also a nick on the barrel crown. If there is not anything that I can do, then I will take it to a gunsmith. Also does anyone know of a great gunsmith in the Burleson, Fort Worth, or Arlington, Texas area? I want to get a trigger job done on it. Thanks, I know that this question has probably been asked 1000 times, but I could not find the post.

Recrowning it might be in order if it isn't shooting well,

But you can't know that if it's an hour old.

Guns get dings.

I contacted Taurus today. I sent there customer service guy a photo via email and he said to send it in and they would sand it down and refinish it to the matte stainless finish or replace the barrel. They said it would take about 3 weeks and $0.00. I contacted a really good gunsmith he said that they would finely sand it down to smooth the ding and then blast it to get the matte finish on it and it would be a minimum of $65.00 and 6 weeks. Guess where it is going? Thanks guys. As I said I would not care if I had done it hunting or shooting but to open the case and have it that way. I could not handle it.

Ghost,
Is Taurus paying for the shipping? My brother just shipped back a 650 to Taurus and it cost him $42 for FedEX Priority Overnight.

I sent it to Taurus today via Fed Ex $28.00 and Taurus did pay for it. $56.00 round trip. Lets just hope they get it done. I'll keep updating the thread. See how Taurus takes care of it.
