Taurus 608 Speedloaders?

Does anyone make speedloaders for the 8 shot Taurus? I know about the Maxfire from speedloaders.com, but is there any more traditional (twist knob or push-button) model out there?

Go to the Taurus site (www.taurususa.com). Look around a bit, but there is a list of speed loaders that fit their revolvers.

Check out the MaxFire speedloaders at http://www.speedloaders.com (make sure that is plural-speedloaders). I have heard good report on these; they are simple and inexpensive.

For something more elegant and ultimately less expensive check out moonclips at TK Custom at http://www.moonclips.com or Bob Miles in Glendale at 310-324-1858.

For a very unique moonclip speedloader check out SpeedSticks at http://www.inficad.com/~lesbec/clip/clip1.htm.

Moonclips allow use of individually loaded rounds, speedloaders AND moonclips.

Razor--check out the "S.L. Variant" speedloaders sold by Dillon...they are in "The Blue Press" catalog and, I believe, on their website...not inexpensive, but they work VERY WELL...I've got FOUR for a Smith&Wesson 686 "Plus" seven-shooter...and I'm VERY PLEASED!!!....mikey357

The S.L. Variants are interesting, but their line does not include an 8-shot. They are expensive. Right now, though, the MaxFire and moonclips are the only alternatives for 8-shot S&W or Taurus.

S.L. Variant 7-shot $29 ea
MaxFire MK1 8-shot $20/6 speedloaders
Moonclips conversion $80 approx with 3 clips
clips $30/10
Speedstick mooncip speedloader $30 ea

Normal initial purchase with moonclips is conversion with the 3 clips plus another set of 10 or about $8.50/clip to start up.

Gee, after visiting the "Dillon" website, it appears Guy may be right...altho' I'd SWEAR I've seen them(S.L. Variant 8-shot for Taurus 608 and 627 PC)for sale SOMEWHERE...anyone else know of another source???....mikey357

AHA!!! I KNEW I saw 'em somewhere...just didn't remember where. Buckeye Tool and Manufacturing Corp. in Ohio makes a speedloader for the Taurus 608...looks kinda like an HKS loader on steroids...looks like all-metal construction, too, from what I can see...their website is http://www.buckeyetool.com Take a look...let us know what you think!!!....mikey357

The Buckeye speedloaders should be worth a look, though they are steep (as are the SpeedStick and S.L. Variant). I am a confirmed moonclip user, so my interest is academic (I like designs and gadgets) but would be curious about the actual mechanism. Since they are pending patent and from appearances they differ from the HKS even though their overall appearance is similar. Being different from HKS is a good thing--I was never able to get reliable performance from the HKS speedloaders.

Guy's experiences with the HKS brand speedloaders are opposite of mine...been using them for better'n twenty years...NEVER had one fail to work or break. I will admit that they ARE about the SLOWEST speedloader out there, but there ARE VERY SECURE...I've dropped 'em, tossed 'em to people, handled 'em pretty roughly...never had one "drop" the rounds when I didn't want 'em to...can't say that about several OTHER brands, including the old "Dade" loader, the ORIGINAL Safariland that was a one-piece rubber job and the present Safariland 333, which is, I believe, currently the "Fastest" speedloader out there...tho' I PERSONALLY believe moonclips to be a smidge' faster, but Guy will probably disagree...you pays your money and you takes your chances!!!....mikey357

Thanks for the info!

Those Buckeyes are exactly what I'm looking for. Although, the moonclips are a very interesting idea also. I'll let ya'll know how the Buckeyes work out.
