I have a 605. Mine is a stainless, ported, bobbed hammer DAO model that I bought used but nearly new.
Early on I had a problem with the cylinder locking up and refusing to rotate. It would only occur after shooting quite a few rounds. Opening then closing the cylinder always cured it temporarily. Before I could track it down, the problem disappeared and has not reoccured even during several punishing range sessions in a concerted effort to duplicate the problem.
All in all, I like the gun.
Recoil is stout with full house .357's but it shoots nicely with .38's and downloaded .357's. Accuracy is about what I expected from a snubbie, but I didn't buy it for a target gun. I don't usually shoot it past 10-15 yds or so.

I had the same lockup problem with mine, but only shooting certain ammo, and after lots of it. It even states in the manual that some types of ammo can bind up against the breach, and to open the cylinder, and inspect the ammo, then reload with fresh cartridges. I don't know if it's a brazilian thing or what, but I noticed some cartridges fit tighter than others. The magtech ammo is made in brazil, and seems to "fit" better in the gun. I wonder if the gun and ammo are designed for each other. I've only had the problem a couple of times, and never in the first 50 rounds. Having said all that, I think the gun is great. It's my first handgun, and my wife and 12 yr old son can both shoot it with 38spl loads. I'm currently using a magtech 158gn semi jacketed soft point at 800fps. The kick is manageable, the round is very accurate, and I feel it will penetrate, and along with it's flat nose cause a decent sized wound channel. I'm going to try some of their semi wadcutters as well, but they are not jacketed and I'm reluctant to lead up my barrel. We'll see. I have the stainless model, and paid $311 out the door. It sounds like you found one at a good price. I put the combat grips on it, but I may put the boot grip back on when I get my carry permit. I trust it to be completely reliable. It's in my nightstand.

Make sure all the screws are tight before you fire it!!
Mine "field stripped" itself when the screw that secured the crane backed out!!
A little Loc-Tite solved the problem and it has not come out since!!
Other than that, it's a surprisingly accurate gun to shoot!!
The recoil with mag loads is already well known!! After all, it's a snub!!

Bought one as my first gun a year ago and never have had a problem. I use mine for Concealed Carry and fire it on the range just to keep in practice with the full magnum loads. Price seems about right. Can't remember what I paid for mine but that sounds close. Go for it and enjoy!
I bought a 605 SS 2" 357 for the wife and she loves the grip. We bought the SS because of all of the humidity here in the deep South. She is a novice shooter so we are experimenting with lower powered (less recoil) 38 rounds but I shoot full power 38+P rounds and it is a very accurate weapon. We only have 250 rounds through it so I will watch for loose screws.
