Taurus 45 "Long" Colt Ti?

Greetings,
Has anyone had any experience at all with the 45 Colt snubnosed revolvers put out by Taurus?

I've always been interested in big bore snubbies, and as of late have read many articles lauding the 45 Colt in modern firearms, as even surpassing the 44 Rem Mag. So, the fact that they now have snubnosed reolvers in 45 Colt (NOT 45 ACP, note) is interesting indeed.

I look at it this way: the 45 Colt revolver is the same weight as the 44 special, has considerably better TKE (Taylor Knockout Quotient, said to be a better measure of terminal effeciveness than ft-lbs), less pressure, more effective in a shorter barrel, etc. (Check out www.sixgunner.com for the 44 vs. 45 argument)

Is there anything I'm overlooking here? Anybody ever tried one of these things? Thanks,
-LCpl Matthew Boris

I've been lookng at a .45lc revolver too. I think the small(er) Tauri look very attractive. The only hitch is that while the .45LC can bee loaded to very impressive ballistics, it usually isn't in factory loads because all the factory ammo companies are afraid if they sell nice beefy loads that would fully take advantage of the potential some knuckle head will put them in grandpa's SAA and blow his hand off.

Now if you handload you can do alot with it. There are many people who will argue against using handloads for defense. I'm of two minds about that argument but there it is.

I think either cor-bon or triton sell some loads they call "+P" even though there is no real spec for +P 45LC.

David

I own one. It performs great with the CCI Blazer/Speer Gold Dot HP ammo (200 gr. at 1000 fps) but the Cor-Bon Self Defense(200gr. at 1100 fps) locks it up pretty good. I sent it back and it's better now, but it's still not perfect. I have no qualms about the Blazer load or weaker, but it's just not up to the Linebaugh level of .45 Colt I'd love to use the Cor-Bon Hunting loads in it, but I really don't even want to try it. That's because it'll probably lock up...not because of the recoil. Recoil in the .45 Colt Ti is not that bad.
