Taurus .357 Tracker

Had the opportunity to fire a Taurus .357 Mag Tracker yesterday (it seems to kick more than my .45).

I like the medimum size of the revolver and I'm thinking about getting it. This would be my first 357. Is the tracker a good choice or would I be better off with something else (in .357 mag)?

I've owned one for about 4 months and have fired about 500 rounds through it without problems. I liked the idea of a 7 shot cylinder, available speedloaders and the price was right.
If you intend to use it as a house self defense weapon, your choice of ammunition will be important since it is a ported gun.
What type of ammo did you shoot through it that made you think it kicked more than a .45?

MMM,

I was at a Taurus sponsored family shooting expo in southern Florida this week-end so I didn't supply the ammo or load the gun (that was done by the range officers), but I believe that it was 158gr.

My experience shooting various loads is as follows from hottest on down, FWIW:
ProLoad 125 gr.Tactical--1500fps--very hot
PrLoad 125 Tac Lite(1200fps)--substantial kick but controlable
Proload .38+P 125--modest recoil
Amer Eagle 130 gr..38--modest recoil
Winchester .38 125 JSP--piece of cake.

Question - I have been waiting for any of then trackers to come out for a long while, (particularly the 41 mag), but they haven't, so I called up Taurus and they said they would not be out until June of this year.
Was there an early release or are only certain areas of the country being favored with the release of the gun?

Not sure about the early release; I first saw the gun in early October last year here in OH. I also saw the .41 Mag at the same time.

Don't know about any early release either, but a local store here in SoCal has a .357 Tracker in stock.
