Has anyone fired the new titanium 4" 357 Tracker? I am thinking about getting it but would like to get opinions on it, even on the steel model. The titanium 45LC is a piece of cake to shoot.
I've got the SS matte version; have put around 300 rounds through it. In a nutshell:
Accurate
Reliable--thus far.
nice balance
grips are OK; solid rubber would be better IMHO
My price was under $320+ tax last October in OH.
Taurus had a "Family Shooting Expo" in my neck of the woods about a month ago and I had the chance to fire the 357 titanium Tracker. It's a nice, lite gun. From what I could tell, despite being nearly twice the size, it weighed about the same as my all-steel model 85. Due to it's extremely lite weight, it appeared to have more of a kick to it than I was expecting despite the factory porting and I had a difficult time shooting it accurately. Then again, I only fired 14 rounds through it since they were charging a dollar per bullet to shoot it. I suspect that with practice, I would be able to shoot it accurately without a problem.
I was also thinking about getting it but when I posted a similar question on the board, I got mixed reviews and so I've been holding off and I got a S&W4013 pistol instead.
I think that I'll eventually get one. Living in the Florida swamps, the heat and humid air makes rust a real problem and even stainless steel guns can rust while titanium never will -- it'll make a nice all around field gun.
I'm not sure if this helped any but it was just my $0.02 worth.
My mom got one recently (her fist gun) and shoots .38+P's in it...I shot .357's in it and loved it. She really likes it with her .38's. With regular .38's, you'd swear that the gun isn't even moving. I have an order in for one in .45 Colt right now.
One of our club memebers had one down at the range a while back and I had the opportunity to shoot it. I shot both medium range 357's and target 38's in it and I was impressed with both of them. I have shot revolvers in competition for years and I think Taurus has winner here.
I got a Taurus snubby .357 Ti on Friday (that Shadow Grey finish is just *gorgeous*). Too bad my range is down for repairs, until at least next weekend.
If it shoots as well as it looks and feels, I'll be entirely happy with it.
