Taurus 24/7 PRO for IDPA...

I have been wanting to shoot IDPA for some time now and have been thinking about using one of the new 24/7 PRO's in 9mm (it's a SA/DA version of the 24/7 with better sights too).

Has anyone seen anybody using one of these for IDPA yet?

I have not seen any yet in competition. I would get the 5" model. I handled one a couple of weeks ago and liked the feel. I took it apart and think I could get a really good trigger with a little tinkering.

Be careful about the action specs. The Stock Service Pistol Division, the typical beginning class, does not allow SA pistols and you will be bumped up to the much more competitive Enhanced Service Pistol division (thats what happened to the XD's) Will this gun fire from a hammer down or semi down position? Para-Ordinance has their LDA which fire with a semi-down hammer position, but the trigger definitely lifts the hammer before firing. Other than Glock or Sig, another gun that looks to be very good is the S&W MP. The trigger is a little heavy for competition and there is nothing out there in the way of enhancements, but the controls look great, and the adjustable grip sounds sweet.... FWIW

Delirious, thanks, I'll take your advice into account. I don't think there are any other hammer positions just a straight SA unless there is a FTF. I'm pretty well sold on this gun though.
Just being in a competition is enough for me right now and I wouldn't care if I placed last everytime at this point (that could change though ;) ). I am really just hoping that I can improve my shooting skills by being around shooters that are better than me.

Thanks
