Taurus 22 revolvers?

Wanting a 22 revolver. Thinking of taurus, ruger or smith. Question is does anyone have the taurus 22 revolvers and what have your experiences been. How many rounds shot and how have they held up?

I have the Taurus 94 ultra-lite with two inch barrel amd the 94 in stainless with four inch barrel. Both of these revolvers are well-made and and well finished. I paid about $300 for the UL and $270 for the SS (plus slaes tax). I have had no problems with either revolver. I have been shooting a lot of .22 lately (also in SW 63) but can't give you an exact figure. I own about 10 HKS 22HR speedloaders and these save time at the range. I think the Taurus .22's are great values and I strongly recommend them.

I own the '94 SS 9-shot 4" model too.

It's a lot of fun ... frame is a little bit small for me. Would love to find a fatter grip for it. Check the sights before you buy. I did have to return the rear one for repair (replacement) and know of a couple guys who had sight problems (front one "off" in one case) too.

Bottom-line is once you have it setup correctly, it's a nice piece.

Well I looked at the Taurus, First one I picked up and checked action was out of timing. Went ahead with the ruger 101. Main reason is have and carry 357 in this model, wife also carries one. Now have the 22 to shoot lots for practice. Have also never seen a used ruger sp or gp series out of time. Certainly paid more for it but what the heck.

I tried both the 94 in ultralite configuration side by side with the S&W 317 airlite. Overall, I liked the airlite better. It was lighter! The cases got stuck in the 94 and extraction was a pain. It required a light tap from my mallet to extract empties. Accuracy in both was similar. I really with SW would come out with an airlite .22wmr/.22lr conversion like their old 650 series.

Taurus 9 shot 22LR

The Taurus 94 3" bbl is a tack driver with a big appetite for ammo of any type. I bought four of the HKS HR-22 speedloaders so one chamber full and four speedloaders give me 45 shots in a row without having to slow down to reload one round at a time. I'm embarassed to say a few more speedloaders might be nice, too.

The 94 is as good as the S&W 22/32 Kitgun I bought in 1957, give or take a little on the finish provided in "those days" but replacing it at S&W prices two years ago made the Taurus the more practical choice. No regrets and lots of fun later I'm tempted to add a 4" SS model or go for one of the long barrel Trackers for target use or just plain fun. I think it will be close to the old K-22 Masterpiece I shot long ago. Probably lots cheaper to buy, too.

Taurus makes good firearms and they stand behind them.

I own a four inch 94 in blue, it has been absolutely wonderful from day one, I have put about 3000 rounds through mine, It loves the copper plated federal bulk pack stuff from Walmart, but shoots well with just about anything else.

If you use match grade ammo you must make sure the chambers are clean, so the hammer doesnt just seat the round.

Mine's a Model 96

My .22 Taurus is the Mod 96. That was their answer to the S&W Mod 17 target revolver. It is a six shot with a medium frame (same frame as their .357) and has a six inch barrel with a Patridge front sight. If the factory target that came with the gun is to be believed, it will shoot a sub one inch group at 25 yards. The only 'problem' is that the trigger could use a little work -- the pull seems a bit heavy compared to my other Taurus guns.

I believe the Mod 96 was discontinued a couple of years ago. I bought mine the day before Brady went into effect as a 'thumb-my-nose-at-them' jesture. No regrets. I think I paid somewhere near $225 for it, new.

I have a Taurus 96, but the barrel forcing cone is a little rough and could stand to be re-cut. The revolver has been good, although the trigger seems a little rough. It is not a Smith & Wesson, but it did not cost anywhere near what Smith's were selling for. I like it and would probably like it more if I took it to the range more often.

i have a taurus tracker .22lr

nice gun, 7 shot, it is more accurate than me.

reliable so far

not a big fan of those ribber grips, will upgrade to hogue or similiar grip in the near future

I've had my 4" 94 for many moon. I have really learned to appreciate it. I'm not sure of the exact round count, but I'd guess I'm over 7500rounds. My only complaint is that the sights are teeny weenie :(
