I need help with a descision

upgrade my current taurus PT92 with match barrel from federal arms, Sprinco spring, and gunsmith work to smooth trigger pull

OR

just get a CZ85B and wolff spring, possible match barrel (I here CZ's are accurate enough with out em)

After all is said and done which gun would give me the most accurate and reliable performance as a carry gun.

Thanks guys, I love this forum!

If you already have it and like it I'd stick to what you've got. If you want serious accuracy I'd suggest a Bar-Sto barrel, however.

On the other hand, if you don't like the PT92 much anyway, get rid of it. I have a CZ-75B and am very happy with it.

If your finances can swing it I'd keep the 92 and get the 85B. Why are you looking at the 85B? Do you shoot left handed? If not then the 75 is a little cheaper. Either way, if you can swing it I'd keep the one I have and pick up the CZ when I got the cash. 2 guns are better than one:)

The Taurus 92 is a quite accurate pistol out of the box. The "match" barrel from Federal probably isn't an improvement. The only upgrade you mention worth doing is the trigger job. Not that the standard 92 trigger is bad, but this can improve your shooting for relatively little money.

The CZ, while very nice, isn't any more accuate and does not have a better target trigger; a certain amount of creep is inherent to the lockwork.

If better target shooting is you goal, some sort of tuned auto, fixed barrel auto or revolver is in order. The revolver is the only discount choice of the three.

Take what you read here with a grain of salt. Most people who buy something expensive will try hard to like it, guns especially. But a CZ-75 is not going to transform your shooting when you're already using an equivalent weapon.

My vote, get to know your Taurus better and discover it's potential. If you feel like a new gun, treat yourself to something different, not another hi-cap DA auto.

I've got both a Taurus PT92 and a few CZs. There -is- a difference.

While I like the PT92 a lot (I've had it a long time) I like the CZs more. No matter what you do to it the 92 is only going to be so accurate. The CZs, on the other hand, come out of the box with accuracy that is very hard to beat. Personally, I like the trigger on the CZ better also once the pistol had a few hundred rounds through it and it is broken in.

Try a CZ, you'll most likely fall in love with it.
