Tasco Propoint on a shotgun?

CSOs ROCK

I have a Tasco Propoint (PDPS3DT or something like that) that I've been unable to unload, for a decent amount anyway. Would you guys suggest that I put it on a shotgun? I like the idea that it acquires the target very quickly without having to really set yourself up for the shot.
I know shotguns are brutal to whatever you put on them, would the red dot scope take the hit okay?

Anyone know?
Or is this just something so utterly stupid that REAL shotgunners would never have considered it.:)
Incidentally, the shotgun will be for recreation and home defense. No hunting or clay, etc.

I've sene slug guns set up with red dot scopes and fired one or two. It works, but adds some complication to a tool that needs to be kept simple in operation.

Bead sights work fine for HD, I suggest you stick with those.
