Tarus 941 trigger work

I am doing a trigger job on a Tarus 941 in .22 mag. The original double action pull was over 16 pounds and the single action pull over 6.5 pounds. I called Tarus and they said that the heavy pull was necessary for reliable function. :eek:

I did some internal polishing and cut 2.5 coils off both the main and trigger return springs. The pull is now smooth and 12 pounds double action and 3.5 single action. The pistol is reliable with CCI ammo.

How much more, if any, can I cut off the springs and still be reliable? Would either of the Wolff springs kits from Brownells work in the 941?

Beeeee careful as I'm sure you are. 3.5# s.a. isn't bad - I'd see if Brownells has a spring kit and I'd not modify it.

The hard part about cutting springs is knowing when to stop. If you have replacement springs handy it doesn't matter if you cut too much off-you can just start over. If you don't have replacement springs it's best to err on the side of caution.

That is what I was asking, to see if anyone had experience with the mainspring on the Tarus and how far I can go. The sear and hammer were fairly straight forward and that (with some reduction of the trigger return spring) got me the good single action pull.

Do the springs in the Brownells Pro-Spring pak 969-301-510AB fit a Tarus 941?

The mainspring doesn't have near the effect on trigger pull as the trigger return spring does.
I don't know about the Brownell's springs.

I agree that the trigger return spring and the smoothness of the hammer/sear is it for single action pull, but in double action you have to compress the main spring with the trigger.
