I have not found this anywhere yet so if I am re asking this question please excuse me. I am looking for a target analysis chart that can be downloaded for a power point presentation for illustrative purposes. Any suggestions?

here's one - http://personal.swayzee.com/jayb/analysis.jpg

You can find some more on google by searching for diagnostic or correction targets.

They ARE a good tool. Not an end all as your instructor MUST watch you shoot & make corrections. It will point you in the right direction, but unless someone is observing what you are doing and can recognise what is going on, you may never correct the problem.

Sort of like learning how to snow ski or golf by reading a book. You NEED a competitant instructor to use this chart.

I couldn't agree more. You also have to be shooting a pretty tight group before the analysis. If you're all over the page you really can't say "I heeled that one" and " I must have been tightening the grip when pulling the trigger for that one". Sometimes the bullet strikes high and wide just because that's where the barrel was pointed when the hammer struck home.

Also, I've found it more helpful to have students focus less on what they might be doing wrong and instead concentrate on doing everything right. And I've also found that the single most important factor in good shooting is trigger control -- smoothly pressing the trigger straight back with only the trigger finger moving to a surprise break.

I was shooting at the range next to this "family" Sons and a father.

They were using that target chart, and shooting at it like crap. They were wondering, what was I shooting (A full powered loud .357 8 shot ) so I asked them what he was shooting (story I put on the TFL long before). It was a 1911 US issue 45acp with little or no wear. He gave me the gun after I let him shoot the big 8 shot .357.

I grouped it right off the bat (not my norm) at about 1.5" at 7yrds not including the one 3" flyer.

They and I, was amazed at my shooting.

TBS, It might help at first, maybe.

IMHO, don't let that chart consume you, because it might do more harm than good. "el-natural"

My point is, it didn't help them one bit.

That chart was designed to aid one handed NRA style bullseye target shooting. It means nothing as soon as you put two hands on the gun.

Agreed Marty.......this chart was designed to aid a bullseye target shooter at 25yds. A person who already is a very competent one-handed shooter.
