Tang: To bed or not to bed?

Years ago I always included the tang in a bedding job. Those rifles all had rear action screws into the tang. Today I see a lot of chatter about free floating the tang. Is a free floated tang only beneficial when there is no screw into the tang? al

I've always found it beneficial to fully bed the rear/upper tangs of rifles I'm stocking/bedding - but at the same time also clearancing the rear edge/side of the tang from the stock/inletting.

Savage rifles definitely seem to like a free-floated tang and they don't have a tang screw, so I guess it makes sense to me. Every rifle can have it's quirks though.
