Tamara: I finally did it!

I took a sneak peek at a polished stainless Taurus model
5-shot model 605 with a 2.25" barrel; that belonged to a
co-worker. Fit and finsih were superb; and the double -
action trigger pull was unbelieveable, being quite a bit
lighter than that of my 6" 686-5. And yes, Taurus has
definitely improved upon their quality from my personal
experience's with their model 82, .38 Special. Would I
buy one? Dunno, as the jury is still out. Looks like a
pretty good value for those on a restricted budget.
I definitely don't want any part of their self-loader's;
as they seem to have too many problem's. Stay safe
and shoot straight-

It's not like I'm some kind of evangelist for 'em, I only own one right now. But I'd buy another one without qualms; they've come a long way, baby. ;)

I firmly believe that Taurus quality has been coming up while Smith quality has been going down. The two lines crossed and then diverged in directional stasis years ago.

This reminds me...I saw a Taurus .41 mag for what I considered a cheap price today.

It had a cool soft grip with little soft rubber ribs all around like cooling fins.

It was satin/nickel/stainless.

Anyone ever shoot one of em?

It was humourously labeled "hand cannon" by the proprietor of the little shop.

I'm thinking seriously about it.......

Taurus .41 mag

Sounds like the 2" snub nose (415). I have a 4" version Tracker (425). Both models come in SS and Titanium. If it was the 415 Ti, it would deserve the title "hand cannon". The Tracker at 4" in SS is no problem. Handles well with the Winchester Silvertips. Even does well with hotter loads, but not for as long (ouch). The porting and grips do help.

The Tracker in .41 mag (rubber grips, four-inch ported barrel) is the most comfortable handgun I've ever fired.

Period. Somebody let me shoot one at a range last year, and it felt perfect. Accurate, JUST the right amount of recoil..

Ala Dan, thats the model the wife has chosen for her CCW choice. Took her out shopping and had her look and handle a 605, 617 Taurus, Sp101 Ruger and various others. She liked the 605 the best so for Mothers day guess what she's getting. ;)

Lennyjoe, Looks like she made a good choice. Although I did
not get a chance to fire this weapon; the owner reports good
thing's from his experience's with it. As a matter of fact, he has
chosen the Taurus model 605 as his choice of a duty weapon
in our security department; the Taurus winning out over all
Smith's and Ruger's. Hope your honey enjoys her mother's
day gift; and I'm sure she will appreciate it-

I agree with everyone...except Ala dan on Taurus Autos....
honestly the steel guns are top of the line. The PT145 has
dragged the co.'s rep down alot..but I still think the PT9**
guns are some of the best out there.....respectfully :D of course.
Shoot well
