Has anyone heard anything about Talon pistols? I've seen them on gunbroker. Are they any good? Or are they junk? Just thought I would check as I've not heard anything about them before.
Thanks,
Kel

Total junk. Don't do it. The Kel-Tec p11 is the cheapest polymer 9mm that is durable and reliable, and isn't much more than a Talon or a Standard Arms (both mega-cheap copies and unreliable to boot). I looked at both the Talon and Standard Arms, bought an SA-9, had it replaced twice after the receiver cracked twice, and got a refund. I then bought a Kel-Tec P11 and never looked back. Save yourself the trouble.

thanks

thanks Cruzer,

That's what I had guessed but for that amount of money I just wanted to see if anyone had looked at them.

Thanks,
Kel

No doubt...I figured I'd save some money too. Instead, I ended up shipping it back to the factory twice (-$50) and losing my shipping amount from the dealer (-$14) - not to mention the pain in the a$$ it was to deal with the liars at Standard Arms telling me that it was an isolated situation.

Just say NO to Talon's IMO... I've seen several pass through a CHL class I help out with at the range and have yet to see one complete the 50 round qualification course without malfunctioning multiple times within a string of fire. I inspected one that was the worst to function that I had ever seen to see why it refused to feed even hardball. There were major machining marks on the slide rails and other critical surfaces that NEED to be smooth for proper functioning. In this case you get what you pay for..

Gun test

The Talon was reviewed and tested in the Nov. issue of Combat Handguns. The first pistol was sent back after numerous failures to feed, light hammer strikes, keyhole strikes on the target (when the target was actually hit), and a lost slide retainer pin. The replacement gun managed to lose the loaded chamber indicator after only 25 rds. Despite all of this, the writer concludes, "Well, with the Talon Industries T100 and the T200, you get a very reasonably priced pistol that's acceptably accurate and works well." I'm starting to think that gunwriters are just used car salesmen in disguise.

And for your information, Talon is the company that arose out of the ashes if Jennings & Bryco. While the other Kel-Tec ripoff, Standard Arms of Nevada, is the bastard child of Loricin. And with names like Bryco and Loricin you know you're getting quality. Yep, quality paper weights, door stops, etc.

It feels really funny saying this...

...but a Talon is basically a KelTec that isn't built to, gulp, KelTec's quality control standards.

Imagine, if you will, a cheap knock-off of, say, a Trabant.
