Talk show hosts and 2nd amendment views...

For the life of me I can't recall the shows name but maybe one of you knows what I am talking about. It is on either Saturday or Sunday morning on espn and has 4 sports journalists. They all look like the last guy picked in PE and they sit around and comment on various games and sports news topics. They each get a Jerry Springer esque closing remark on the show. For lack of a better way to describe him (don't know their names even though I have watched the show 1000 times) the lone black guy on the show chose to comment on the latest Stephen Jackson fiasco. He was doing fine in my eyes until he made a remark stating that the second amendment was created by the founding fathers to protect themselves againts the british army and that they didn't mean for it to still be in effect today and that they would be against it. He claimed that Stephen Jackson, as well as other CCW'ers didn't carry a gun to protect themselves, they carried a gun to look cool!

How would this guy know what the founding fathers would want today. Here is a thought! How about reading there exact words in Constitution! And why does he feel he knows why people carry concealed weapons? He sure does paint with a wide brush! Any opinions (agreeing or not) are greatly appreciated.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Ignore him. People who say things like that are wearing their ignorance like a sandwich board.

Tim...

I would like to ignore him but it seems like his way of thinking spreads easily. I hate people that have access to a national audience and go on tv and make stupid unfounded remarks just like he did. I know he's not the first and he's wont be the last. I just wish there was a way to change their minds.

Well, you could write him a thoughtful, concise email or snail-mail that would straighten him out, but my guess, given that it's a sports show, is that they would either ignore you (my bet) or use you as an excuse to launch into an anti-gun diatribe. You just can't keep up with the pinheads on network TV--heck, they're *professional* pinheads.

Tim

You make another good point.

I have noticed that their opinion on sports drift like the wind in a hurricane. They talk about whoever is winning and try and convince you that they knew the team would win all along! They don't know about their own "profession" let alone CC and firearms in general.

So who pays attention to these people?

One thing I have noted about the proliferation of cable TV, satellite TV, the
Web, etc. is that you have more and more pundits and experts and commentators with smaller and smaller audiences. So we have all these "experts" on gun control or whatver voicing their opinions to the 267 or
so insomniacs who happen to tune in at 3AM or whenver their airtime is.
BTW, guns are NOT addicting. I just acquired my 108th firearm-109 if you
count my air pistol. I can stop anytime. What keeps me from adding to my
arsenal are 1) Money 2) Not seeing anything I want 3) Running out of space

I'm about as concerned over what the people who watch a lot of sports on TV are being influenced with as I am about the people who watch Jerry Springer.

SO...people carry concealed to look cool:confused:

The Romans had bread and circuses....we have beer and sports on TV. :p

Tim... to ignore such a man is to ignore being treated to hot tar and feathers...

Besides... as he paints with his "very broad brush" he is using a catlytic epoxy which gets used again and again by the ignorant and gullible until "the lie becomes fact"

It is the nature of propagandists to "wormtongue" like this and the nature of the ignorant to repeat it as often as they can...

This is why the Liberal Media doesn't expose it... They are lovers of the lies...

Our only hope is to barrage them with letters of protest... and that will not get your "one" guy to retract his statement...

Besides... it's like the judge ordering the jury to 'strike' that remark...

Having been on a jury and hearing this exact remark made by a judge, I have often wondered how much good it does. Once the remark is "out there" it's hard to just forget it.
Which brings us back to the topic. Once this host put his remark out there how many 2nd amendment fence straddlers did he actually pull to his side (and with his arrogant remark how many did he push to our side?)?

The 2nd

Was created to prevent the government from becoming Tyrannical. It is treading on our rights as we speak, we have to have them to keep the government in check. It Shall not be infringed, ever, or else the British army will be back.
