Tales of the TSA, interesting and troubling. What price? Who's glory?

But we're not in a police state. Lather, repeat, rinse.

The ONLY way that airport security could have gone downhill from the private firms in charge prior to 9/11 was to get the government involved.

It is quite frightening to see how the Ministry of Information and Truth is handling the blunders of the TSA.

I say kill it and return to CCW on planes.

I think it is absolutely criminal how the TSA has sabotaged the "armed pilot" program. In addition, I think it is ridiculous that the TSA has tended to focus on objects rather than people when assessing threats. For example, they refuse to acknowledge that a young male from the Middle East is at least somewhat more likely to pose a threat than an 85-year old grandmother from Iowa. That said, I travel a lot and have consistently found the TSA screeners to be more professional and courteous than the previous screeners.

In the wake of 9/11, the federal mentality toward air travelers is best summarized by the motto posted at the headquarters of the TSA air marshal training center: "Dominate. Intimidate. Control."But it takes more than browbeating average Americans to make air travel safe.
Yeah, it takes good, old-fashioned common sense like arming the damned pilots! Offer free seats to armed off-duty cops and citizens with ccw willing to carry on board.

The TSA is a circus of clowns. Why in hell the President doesn't start firing some asses for obstruction of law is way beyond me? Damn, just damn! Also, why are those damned socialist holdovers from the Clintoon Adminstration, Loy and Minetta (especially Minetta) still in their positions? That is a question I have had for a long time.

The real problem with the antics of TSA, many and varied, is simply the following.

That our "elected things" let them get away with the crap they are pulling.

The way things at TSA are going, you'd almost believe it's being run by a Democratic appointee from the Klinton administration who wants to make things look bad for Bush in an election year....

But Bush is too INTELLIGENT to let that happen, isn't he?... ;)

I wonder why the Congressional oversight committee has not had hearings on TSA abuse of discretion. Instead I get mail from GOA asking me to send postcards to support yet another law reaffirming one already in place as a way of forcing TSA to comply. That's BS and I am not sending those postcards.

Just think. I wanted to leaflet airports to demand the arming of pilots but could only find six -- count 'em SIX -- other firearms activists to go with me; and one -- ironiclly the first one to step forward -- has since passed away.

I guess this article explains why so many people are so scared to death to even enter an airport now; even to exercise their right to petition their government for a redress of greivances.
