Taking my .44 mag to Alaska

I am an Idaho resident, with a ccw. In July I will be traveling to AK for some adventures, and am wondering about taking my revolver with me. Does anyone know, or know where to look to find, about taking a handgun up there? How to get it on the plane?

Thanks.

You put your gun unloaded in a locked hardcase in your checked luggage. Tell the airliner person that you need to check a firearm and they will have TSA look at it and you should be good to go. its very simple actually.

As the others have said, It's really very simple and painless.

One thing to add, Ammo and Firearm must be packed in seperate luggage. So putting your ammo in the locked gun case will not fly. I have found it best to just purchase ammo at your desination, but you may want to call and check ammo availability where to plan to go.

Most airlines have the regulations listed at their website. It would be a good idea to check there incase your particular airline has more stringent policies.
