Taking a bolt apart

I would like to disassemble the bolt mechanism on my kimber M96, mauser bolt, is this hard to do ? Just looking to clean and polish it up, I got the gun a while back from my brother, it was putting hole on top of hole at 100 yards when I got it and it was unbeliveably dirty when it was doing this :D Just wanna finish up the cleaning job I started on her.

Dear Sir:
I'd get some gunscrubber or carburetor cleaner and not even disassemble that bolt. I think that would cut away any crud and an air compressor at 100# would do the rest - coat with light oil - unless you're going to a cold climate hunting dangerous game!

Usually you unscrew the bolt shroud (at the back) from the body on mauser actions with the firing pin cocked.

I'm not familiar with the Kimber, however.

Try this:

Cock the bolt.
Place the safety in the middle position (stratight up).
Open the bolt and remove it.
Unscrew the bolt sleeve from the bolt body. (There may be a bolt sleeve lock.)

That should be enough for cleaning without further disassembly.
