"Take Your Holster to Work" Day

I've been rolling around the idea of a way for those of us who cannot make it to one of these national pro-freedom demonstrations to show solidarity/support (in addition to a protest against anti-gun workplace environments.)

What would be the pros and cons of a scheduled day where gun owners wore a visible, empty holster to work?

(Still LOL.)

I guess that my fleeting remark could also be seen as rude. More to the point,Once upon a time I advocated National Strap-It-On Day when we all would openly "Bear Arms". I still think it would be a good idea.

I mean, after all, if the Fruits of Islam can do it, why cant everybody??

Better days to be,

Ed, I agree with you, but let's face it: our culture is based mostly on gestures. Our proudest and lowest moments are gestures and symbols, for the most part.
Wearing Malcom X hats was just an empty gesture but it got attention and we desperately need to put some attention on decent gun owners. If we refrain from gestures and political posturing we're basically giving the field to the enemy.

I'm in. Let's pick a day and start publicizing it. How about warmer weather, like May or June, so people are wearing lighter clothing and we have time to convince people that it's worth doing. Say May 1st?

May Day, Gwinny???

I keep telling you guys to move to Vermont. We could do it every day here.

:D

So we meet at last PanzerFuerer, I would love some of your rights out here.

May it is.

Carefull some may think we are carrying stealth technology guns in those "apparently" empty holsters.

Another idea I was playing with is this: In California, it is LEGAL to open carry an unloaded gun (meaning NO loaded mags anywhere around you).

Maybe a day where we all carry open unloaded?

Every gun is always loaded. :)

Gun is loaded in AZ whether loaded or not.

I would suggest that if you work for the post office dont do this......they are paranoid enough......for a day why not patriots day, april 19th I believe...fubsy.

I can imagine this here in Massachusetts. I strap on an empty holster and end up with my truck littering the highway in itty-bitty parts after the local yokels get through tearing it apart looking for the "gun".

I'll pass.

On top of that, where I work I am a temp. If they get miffed, they could simply terminate the contract and I would have no recourse as when you are a temp, every day is your last day.

Gun Control: The proposition that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own panty hose, is more acceptable than allowing that same woman to defend herself with a firearm.

I still like the idea of wearing a yellow star of David with the words "Gun Owner" printed on it. I plan on wearing one when I'm in Boston for the Forth of July concert at the Shell. Maybe I'll wear an empty holster too. They can tear apart my rental car all they want.

What the deal with police in MA? Do they have some special dispensation from the legislature to search as they do? They seem to have a reputation of searching anything that passes under their noses. Why is that? A history of bad court decisions? From what I've seen on TV (yeah, bad reference material, I know) they all seem to have that high and tight, ex-military-but-still-think-they-are-soldiers look about them.
