From my angle (that is to say, not having had to go through the wait and paying the bill!
) I would say that neither was a bad deal.
Outside of someone doing a low-cost duracoat job or a home-brew "cold blue from a bottle", I can't see how or where...ANYWHERE, you'd get a professional finish for less than $200.
5 months? That does seem like a long time for a guy to wait on a project, but I'd rather see folks with new, broken or "needing attention" guns get their work done before a guy who simply wants a new finish on a 30-year old revolver. And if the quality of their work is up to the standard you expected, I can't say that 5 months is too long to wait. I'm pretty sure that most of the known or popular handgun craftsman of note take
at least that long, many longer, to perform any manner of work.
That sounds to me like a pretty good package from Smith & Wesson.
Also sounds like you are happy with what you got back... the whole deal sounds like a winner. Nice gun!
