Hello well this is my first post. I just picked up a NEF pardner pump in a trade and i want to use it for home security/hunting. so my questions are... Is it possible to pick up a shorter barrel to put on? if so where can i get one? how hard is it to swap barrels? and where can i get a pistol grip stock for this particular gun? thanks in advance.

Iv read that 870 parts are intherchanble with out mods (pistol grip, tatical foregrip) Iv even found a video of some one whos showing the 870 parts on his NEF.

as for the barrel I dont think they make any other size then the 22'' barrel. are you looking for a longer or to go shorter? cause 22'' is pretty ideal for hunting but if your anything like me I like an good 18-20'' barrel, easy to manuver, light weight. cause if thats the case just get it cut down (wont matter much unless some one paid a smith to put a new choke in their cause it orignally only comes with a rifled barrel but again a smith can put a new choke and cut down your barrel for you.
thats all I can help you with, good luck!

Thanks for that info. also i heard from someone that there was some company whose barrels were exaclty the same as the Pardners but i can't remember who it was??

yea my only problem is im trying to go small, i think mine is the 28 incher. im also unaware how short of a barrel i can legally have on a shotgun, i just need to be able to easily get around my house without hittin the barrel on walls lol.

H&R has the 18.5" barrels for the Pardner Pump. You have to send in your shotgun receiver before they will sale you one. They claim they have to be fitted but they are a drop in fit. Also Hawk 982 barrels will fit if you can find a used one.

The 870 barrels will fit if you have a gunsmith relocate the barrel ring higher up.

The Pardner Pump & the Hawk 982 are the same shotgun with different style receivers. Both are made buy Norinco in China and imported by IAC Hawk ind.

All 870 parts will fit the Pardner Pump & Hawk 982 but the barrels because the barrel lug rings are in different locations on the barrel.

Yeah earlyer I didnt know if you wanted to go shorter or longer. looks like these folks answerd the rest of it for yeh! great info

Yes 18" is as short as you can legally go. I don't know how expensive it would be, or what your budget is, but you can get NIB Pardner Pumps with 5+1 mag capacity and 18.5" barrel from Academy Sports and Outdoors for less than $200 out the door. I'd say look at the time and math. May be worth it to just get a new one if it's a pain in the rear or wallet to get another barrel.

I haven't actually done it, but I have both an 870 and a Parnder pump and the differences are very slim. The stocks for 870's should work just fine as well as forends. Those will be easy to find. I do know for a fact that the magazine cap and plastic insert are interchangeable. If memory serves correct the ammo saddles that screw into the side of the reciever won't work because the pins are not located in the exact same position. I may be wrong about that though .

the only issue i have with purchasing one is i only have this one because it came with a trade. and for what i have decided to use it for, HD and occasionally hunting i want to be able to interchange a barrel so i guess i will have to search for a barrel, unsure how thats going to go though.

Not so the pins are in the same location as on the 870 receiver and receiver side saddles will fit. The 870 trigger guard assembly will also fit the Pardner Pump.

870 Parts that fit:

Mag cap, shell latches, safety, forend assembly, receiver stud on most there are a few PP shotguns that have a metric thread pattern, Bolt, extractor and barrel if you relocate the barrel lug ring

870 Accessories that fit:

Forends but they will be a tight fit because the Pardner Pump forend tube is a little larger diameter, Stocks but some need a little fitting, receiver shell side saddles, tactical oversize safeties, tube extensions but they will be too long or too short.

H&R NEF Pardner Protector, they have very thick steel receivers thicker than the 870, machined extractor & ejector and nicer aluminum trigger guard than the one offered on the 807P. They are deal for the money.

Protector Breacher with one of my 7+1 tube extensions I make for the Hawk 982 and Pardner Protector shotguns.

Protector Breacher

King Armory Breacher Brake
GC 7+1 Tube Extension
Vang safety
Hogue forend
SpeedFeed LE short stock
Shotgun has a Ceramic non rust finish applied over the factory parkerized finish
Action smoothed
Wolff spring & a steel follower
Spark II fiber optic sight
Fiber glass heat shield

Recoil is low for a 12Ga pump because of the pistol grip stock and the excellent King Armory brake.

Thanks MAX! I wanted to go digging around in the closet to check it out for myself, but the wife would have killed me for waking her up. Now I have to find out what gun I was thinking about

ok with all of my new info. i guess im going to go with cutting the stock so my next question is, if i was going to do it myself how hard is it? what tools would be needed to do it correctly?

Question for Max re side saddle for 982

Max, for my Hawk 982, will "any" big name side saddle work? I called tacstar and they said theirs wouldn't but she didn't sound overly confident about that.

Ideally, I just want one that I can install easily myself. Is there one you recommend?

Thank you in advance (or anyone who can help me with this).

It amazes me that manufactures know so little about their own products. Most people on the forums know more about their products than they do.

Any 870 sidesaddle will fit the 982 & H&R NEF Pardner Protector. TacStar is the best one for the money. Mesa Tactical cost about 3 times as much but is the most durably built.

Side saddles for hawk 932

Gentleman

Max is wrong on the suggestion all tacstars will fit. I just received the six shot side saddle from tacstar and IT DOES NOT FIT. The issue is the Forend pump action grip is hitting the platform that is mounted on the side saddle. The breach will open about 80% then it stops due to the contact between each other. I am going to try the 5 shot saddle and post my results. If the mounting platform for the 5 and 6 shot are the same, then it will not work. Keep everyone posted

C130pilot POST research on tacstar side saddle

Alright guys this is what I found out.

The stock fore end will not work with the side saddle. Simple test. Bring your fore end all the way down to where the chamber is fully open, can you load a shell into the bottom. I am sure your answer is no. All after market fore ends are designed to fix this problem and allow for side saddles to fit. I looked into the hogue and speed feed ones they all will work.

Zombie thread...

Same issue crops up with 870s too. No big deal - take off the original field length forearm and shorten it, if you want to use it with a 6-round Sidesaddle. Otherwise every aftermarket short (LE length) forearm I've tried so far will fit the Nork/Hawk/IAC 870 clones. Helps to have a proper forearm nut wrench...

Or skip the whole nutroll and put on a 4-round Sidesaddle to start with.

Pardner Pump TAC Upgrades

There is a ring of truth when you ask the manufacturer or a parts dealer if their upgrades that fit the Remington 870 will work for the Pardner Pump. None of the pistol grips I want seem like they will fit.

Spoke to ATI who makes a stock with Scorpion grips and butt stock for lower recoil for a Rem 870 and they cant tell me if it will work on the Pardner.

Looking for someone who can confirm or has installed with min effort an adjustable stock or preferably a folding stock for the Pardner. Also, that has installed with a Scorpion or Triton style pistol grip.

Many thanks in advance!
